I made a camera set up similar to that using a 7" wide screen flat panel where my rear view mirror goes and a waterproof camera hidden inside the third brake light, i hooked in a dvd player/ TV tuner too. I never added the wireless camera like i planned but had room in the system for it, I thought it would be neet to have behind the RV trailers when I pull. It was a neat set up... .

1. TIVO is a must

2. Camera on the trailer is a must.

Could not live without either!

PS: Be sure the monitor will do the left-right flip when in the camera mode, else you will be seeing object on one side of the truck/trailer that are actually on the other side. Could be a problem!

Tivo is one of the best things I've purchased in my life - and I'm really not even that into TV. Actually since getting Tivo I've become more into it - because I don't have to time my favorite shows perfectly, and because of the ease of recording programs/getting season passes. It's also great to find shows you never would have found normally. You can use tivo to search by letter - so search for TR and it you find all kinds of truck related shows. I found ATV TV and ATV Magazine TV that way, shows I would have never caught normally on strange channels... Dream RV. As you can tell, I can't recommend it enough to people that don't have one or haven't tried it. It couldn't be easier to use.

Ceaman and Les - those camera setups sound sweet. I also never thought about the left/right flip, good point. Is it legal to replace your rear view mirror with a camera? Any pics of the camera hidden in the 3rd brake light? That sounds pretty slick!

The camera that i can get the picture is allready mirror reversed. I will have to look for pictures as the camera and tv set up went back to DC with they buyback truck.

As far as the legality... motor homes often have the camera tv set up in them... and there are no laws that i know of saying you must have a inside rear view mirror in a pickup.
