It's not like I wouldnt mind blaming it on billy boy, but the horrible truth is that the scare of pregancy, the lack of real knowledge of STD's and other things have lead to this. I've read some article way before billy boy's exapades have been reported. These articles and surveys pointed to the growing trend of the kids being involved earlier and earlier as the decades roll on and pointed to what I mentioned above and other things as I talk about below.
What can we really blame? As a parent I would say if there's a problem we have only ourselfs to blame. We need to keep our kids from watching TV content that they shouldnt be (content thats not appropriate for their age, "to young to be exposed to such ideas" "early exposure"). I would dare say that the networks would have never aired the shows they air now, at the hours they do, 20 years ago. But it's all in the name of pushing the limits to get ratings. MTV..... movies... prime time sitcoms.
I know I'm starting to sound like a stero-typical blame it on everyone else parent. But I have nothing to blame on anyone. Just what I see.
I agree with you, it's about the relationship between the kids and their parents. It's about trust and an open line of conversation.
A Questions from the child can't lead to a line of questioning back showing suspicion and worry.
But through the normal day it's all about asking... who, what, where, when, why. Limits..... giving them enough rope, but yet with a safety rope they dont see or don't know about so they don't hang themselfs. I don't think a parent can be too nosey... . but the kid needs a little bit of privacy. . even if it's just an illusion at first. The older they get, the less the illusion and the more the true privacy... and if we did our job right, they'll be a set of good morals and truthes installed and a fine adult with good confidence and self worth will come from it all.
