Archived Did I break my trans input shaft?

I was going home down a long strech of street and gonna make a quick pass. Not even out of 1st and then a loud ping. I was giong down hill and the trans was slowing me down but just reved up and nothing. I think park worked but nothing else. Transmission shop open Monday, so ive got two days to ponder. Thanks:{

When I broke mine it was a huge noise like bang not a ping. Truck was dead in street like driveshaft fell out. Hope this helps, don't put factory one back in.

Now that I think about it, it was a bang. It sounded expensive.

Mine went with a loud bang and also took out the serpentine belt which jumped off and took out the plastic idler pulley with shreds of belt everywhere.

I think if park holds it's the input but if park does not hold it could be the output.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, it's a bad sinking feeling for sure.
