My 99 with 3. 5 gears I tow constantly between 2200-2500 with O\D off. Kinda noisy, but absolutely no problems. Rev on!

We have a 20 ton Grove rough terrain crane at work with an early 12 valve ve-pump and that motor has never been out of the crane for any reason. It weighs in at 44,000 lbs. and this is not a misprint. I've never seen anyone on these forums clain to get near that GCWR with any truck.

I pulled a 40' triple axle flatbed trailer down to Pheonix, about 950 miles, to pick up a 64 Imperial and a 77 New Yorker. The cars weigh about 6500 pounds each, the trailer about 7500 and the truck about 8000:eek: with the 4. 10 gears and a 5spd I turn about 2500 rpms a 70 but the speed limit is 75 so I ran between 75 and 80 the whole way with out a problem. The only complaint was the 8 MPG average or $400+ in just fuel:--)

I'm jealous - I LOVE those old battle cruisers!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I run my 24V at 2700-3000 continous on the highway. i swear it loves it. I haave run 3300+ for a short distances, again no side effects whatso ever. You dont want to exceed 3600 with a 24V thats about where the valves/piston on some motors can touch, thats the biggest potential problem.
