Ok so I was driving and truck seemed fine. Then next time I go through the gears, I hit fifth let clutch out, give it gas and it just revs up like I missed the gear. So I go to put it back in fifth and nothing! It wont go into fifth gear at all!!?

So my question is, did fifth gear go out, or did the shift fork come out of wack or get stuck or something? I saw other guys saying when they lost fifth it would go in gear, just it didnt do anything? Thats why I was thinking maybe something else?

All other gears seem to be fine. Clutch is fine.

Please help guys. Anything is appriciated!!

Thanks, Travis

Yep, sounds like your gear and nut came off. Put the tail shaft off of the transmission and it should be in the bottom of it. Get the new split one (nut)and use loctite on it. I did that on mine and it held until I upgraded my transmission.

I was afraid thats what it was. It can be fixed without pulling the transmission right? I mean Iv had it out 4 times and have a transmission jack, so thats not a problem, just tryin to save a little work

Actually it can be fixed by taking the tail housing off, but I did have my transmission out because we rebuilt it. The 5th gear nut uses a special tool to take off, you can get it at Quad 4x4 and any other parts u need he has them. Heres the website Dan knows his stuff Home
