The other day I was coming down the mountain and the engine just quit. It started right up but did not want to stay running. I would run as long as I kept messing with the throttle. I got to where I was going but had to restart it a couple of times.
When I came out of the bank I raised the hood and started the engine. It did idle and I took the oppertunity to drain the junk out of the filter drain and I hit the primer a few times and have had no trouble for a couple of days. Then Yesterday I was going uphill at about 50mph's and it started that crap again. I pulled over and did the fuel filter drain again as well as the primer. Started right up and runs good. The fuel filter has only about 6,000 miles on it and I stretched the overflow spring out a little a while back.
I have not changed the strainer for a while. Could that be it or could it be the rubber fuel llines?
I have not checked them to see if they are soft or leaking, I will do that tomorrow. I don't think it is the lift pump because it does not do this all the time.
Any other suggestions on what I should check?
