I was looking under my truck this morning and I just happened to notice that the transmission is leaking from the top. It's not leaving spots on the driveway, it just looks like seepage. I drove about 100mi today and the wet spot on the transmission, fairly large on the passenger side and not so big on the drivers side, looks to be about the same size as it was this morning. I'm not sure when it started but I had my clutch done about a six weeks ago by a reputable shop. The leak is coming from somewhere around the shifter on the top of the transmission. I don't know if it's the shifter leaking or maybe a penetrating lube like WD-40 from when they were working on it, or if it's even related at all. I figured I'd ask here first for some ideas before I call the shop, they are off this week for vacation anyways, or the dealer. Thanks for the help.

Try spraying brake cleaner on the slick spot and clean it off, then see if you notice any more seepage. The shift tower has 2 seal areas with a rubber spacer in between. The rubber (which contacts the shifter itself) should seal good, however the bottom of the the spacer (where it contacts the trans cover) does require a sealant, that may be your problem.
