Did the G-56 Change for 07 trucks???

Hey everyone!! Quick question... . When I test drove an 07. 5 6. 7 litre the G-56 was higher geared. Felt like my olf NV5600 in the 04!! RPM's weren't as high etc... . Saleman said they had changed the G-56 a little in response to customer complaints of it being geared too low... . ANyway, I bought an 07 5. 9 Manufactured in Dec of 06. After driving this new truck all week, it feels like the one in the 6. 7. Rpm's not as high... . I really really like it!!:-laf Was there in fact a change? ANd when?? THanks~

Sixth gear is a taller ratio now. Somebody in another thread posted the actual ratios but anyway, it wasn't your imagination. I think it changed mid '06 but I am not sure. My '06 built 4/06 still has the original shorter OD.

Thanks a lot Bholm! Everyone that has answered the question has stated that it was for the 07. 5 6. 7's... But I went and drove last night after posting and sure enough I am only at 21-2200 RPM's@70! My 06 was an early build o6, so def lower. :-laf I am having to adjust. I used to have to put my 06 in 6th about 55MPH while towing. I put my 07 in it at 55 and lugged just a hair. . so I am adjusting!!

Sounds like you may have a very rare and desirable truck... an 07. 0 with a 5. 9 and a G56 with the better gearing. Take good care of it.

My '07 was born in November '06. It tachs 2050 at 65 and just a shade over 2200 at 70. That is still a little low for my taste but way better than the 48re alternative that I had in my '05. That was the 1st and LAST automatic that I will ever own in a work truck. I have been seriously purchasing the Gear Vendors under/overdrive unit.

Mine was born 10-16-06 in Saltillo. It's got the low gears. Really needs 35's,but with the camper on it's geared pretty good.

I believe mine was born the LAST WEEK of December. Maybe they just quit the G-56 as it was just prior to the switch over... . NOt complaining!
