On my way to work on Fri. the guy next to me told me I was leaking diesel fuel. When I pulled over to check , It was pouring out underneath from the engine. I automatically thought my return line finally sprung a leak. I had my brother bring it home on the rollback, I found the return line, and when I went to loosen the first clamp, I bumped the fuel filter housing and it moved. After further checking I found out the 3/8 grade 8 bolt holding the housing on had broke right under the top plate.
The truck was still running great,I don't understand how it wasn't sucking air with the amount of fuel it was pumping out.
Plus , why did it break now. I replaced the filter on Jan. 3,... 9 months ago, and I only tighten the bolt with a 9/16 x 1/2 open end wrench.
Any way I replaced the bolt and put in a new filter, and we're back on the road again.
Any one else ever have this happen?
