Dealer invoice price is not the dealers actual cost of the truck, but it is unfortunately as good as we're going to get unless you own the dealership. I agree looking at sticker price is a waste of time, but I do keep the stickers when I get a truck and put it in the window when I sell it so anyone interested can see exactly what options the truck has.

True, dealers also get their Holdback money plus other incentives that we don't know about. I believe paying Invoice price or Invoice plus $200 is fair and reasonable.

We paid top dollar for our new "06" Megacab. The dealers weren't dealin. The only extras we paid for was the extended warrantee, spray-in bedliner, and an undercoating... . $48k. We really like the truck but we knew they stickin it to us. That was how it was back then. Obviously a lot can happen in a few short years.

you guys got hosed, I paid 32k for my '06, in may '06 which is a 4x4 SLT with most options, but that is a long way from 48k

Same here. Not sure what part of the country you are in, but I got my '06 for just under $33k in Feb. '06. I was quite surprised that I got it that low since it was mid model year. I looked at the Mega's but couldnt justify the extra $5k, certainly wouldnt have spent $48k for it. I despise the way US car companies do business, the price on the window should be the price for everyone and it should be fair. Not inflated so one sucker gets screwed while another gets what the price should really be. Thats the way most foreign car companies work, theres wiggle room, but not 25% from one dealer to the next. The stupid, short sighted problem with that mentality is that it just forces dodge dealers to compete against each other instead of with Ford, Chevy, etc. But i digress... .

I gave 34K for my truck in mid 06. And to be honest, for the longest time I STILL felt like I gave too much. Its an SLT with the TRX-4 option... (which I believe to just be stickers and different colored shocks)

We were recently shopping for my wife a new car and had stopped at the Ford house. Talk about high prices!!!!. I found a 1/2 ton crew cab with a small gas engine, the window sticker was 52-53K!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My 34K 3/4 ton DIESEL is looking better and better. Not to mention that its paid for!

I go to 5 dealers and levee an envelop with my address on it with a stamp and tell them to mail there bid to me in a week all so I have a paper that tell them what I want on the truck. Then I go to the low bider and hager for more off also the next low bider. I have got some good deals doing that. I like the money I save.

A little different up here in Canada, vehicles are more $$$,way more. My 2001 in my sig listed at $51,000+7% Tax(GST)back in 2001. It sat on the lot for months as it was a canceled order, stopped in one day and offered $42,000 out the door, its now in my garage. Forward ahead to Dec 2008,my newest ride----2007 Mega,DRW/SLT/4x4/Auto/last of the best "5. 9"/most options/ 20,000 miles USED. This one cost $37,000 with tax/duty/brokerage fee/inspections cause it came out of the USA and was brought here for sale in Vancouver BC by a broker. Same truck(i found 3 identical in Canada with close to the same mileage),all places wanted close to 50k for these trucks, new would put you into 60/65k range. Only downfall to my 07 is "no warranty"(what is that now-a days) cause all the dealers are whining that to many of us up here are refusing to pay these ridiculous prices anymore now that are dollar is close to par with the US buck and are traveling to the US to purchase new vehicles at a 30-40% savings. Within the next few years i"m looking at buying a jet boat(maybe Thunderjet),up here they want 70k for the same boat i can get in the states for 40-50K range, drive a day save 20k. I'm all for supporting local but when i think i will be walking funny after the deal i shop elsewhere. DW

Who woulda thought?! Thats my credit union. :-laf You wouldn't believe some of the stuff thats come through there. There was a brand new F-150 in there a while back with ~1500 miles. Fully loaded with every option imaginable, they wanted $55,000+ for a half ton!

Its ridiculous that they want that much for any vehicle. Its even worse when someone buys it for that much.

That option is for the ford owners so they dont get there hands cold while they push it!LOL!!!

I must have bought mine at the right time. . dealer sticker $58k and I got my 09 3500 Big Horn for $35... . same as I paid for the '98 eleven years ago. . gotta love it!

I paid 40k with 5 yr 0% on my 2007. 5, 2500, HD, auto 6. 7 SLT, quad cab reg bed, 4x4, tow/plow package, two tone,blue/grey, michelin all season radial tires, chromed wheels, 3. 73 gears. This was the best deal I could get in Oct of 2007 from any of the big three although I wanted the Cummins I would have bought a GM with allison transmission. Glad I did not. If you use your truck for work and can take the deduction on your taxes, which I do not, they are not going to give it to you and you should be willing to pay more as the market will dictate.
