Die grinded original roller and replaced with a bolt on roller so I would not have to buy the dodge regulator assembly. Window is super smooth, I would suspect it had been bad for a long time and the stud finally popped out of track. The nylon wheel breaks

off the stud. Picture shows old ball stud with missing nylon that got die grinded. Found nylon in bottom of door. Window was working but I knew it was not right, as it stalled a little when getting close to the top ,and also rattled. I Put a towel in to catch metal and did it in place . Need to drill out to size of threads. Nice fix and saved a gob of $$. Will do my other door also.

Were you able to do the whole thing through the existing openings or did you have to remove the regulator assy?



Did you used a store bought type roller or did you turn your own new one?
 
That is a shot of the regulator in the door with a towel in back of it to catch the metal. The channellocks were to bring it forward for drilling. It got a lock washer and lock tite on it. Found that the track in that area was light on grease, so added some. Should have taken a second picture. Took longer to get the panel on and off then to do the mod. I got it from an auto glass shop.

A ladie was picking one up for a dodge when I went to get mine.

I, too, would like to know the source of your new roller and any more specifics about the fix.



I had the passenger side assembly replaced last year just before my extended warranty expired. The nylon roller had split in two. I suspect its only a matter of time before the driver's side goes.

Your correct in that gaining access is more work than the repair. I have noticed the windows in the truck and car were getting slower and I thought it was the lubrication loss. Now I wonder if it might be the rollers more than the loss of lube? The motors for the windows on my 1988 Oldsmobile are very small and will burnout over time. I had planned to look at the car door window problem this winter as they have slowed down a lot. Preventive maintenance is always better than repair or replacement.

At the auto glass shop they only had a couple different rollers

so they must be pretty standard. I was running it without the nylon for quite a while because every so often the window would need to be popped back in. Now I realize the nylon wheel

fell off and the stud was popping out of the track. I,m sure

I will be doing the other side one of these days.
