I ordered my truck. My specifications were so weird the dealer wanted $1000 deposit instead of the usual $500. I ordered a SRW, 6-sp, 4. 10, LWB. Dealer did a search and couldn't find anything even close to that. Glad I ordered--it was worth the wait. I got exactly what I wanted and it smelled great inside (some vehicles sit for a couple of months in the lot).

Mine wanted $500 because he said they wouldnt be able to sell it. Reg cab 4X4 ETH/DEE only option were cloth seats ,sliding rear,LSD and AC. They couldnt beleive I told them to shove the cruise control. Gotta love roll up windows :)

My first '03 was off the lot and my second '03 I ordered. Then I ordered a 2004 but that truck never showed up (damaged) so I had my dealer find me one as close to my order as possible and that truck came out of Conneticut.

Ordered in just the way I wanted it. But this was an odd configuration. Long bed SRW 3500 quad cab. No Nav radio or hands free? stuff. Deleted the slide window- got the defroster. not a sport, no bedliner, no taunnue? cover. ---- Everything else. 6 sp, LS, 4. 1 , tow hooks, dealer installed ex brake, butt warmers, laramie/leather. If it was available I would have gotten cloth with heated seats- that is also on a different thread.

I always special order, You get what you want and it usually

it will cost less.

My current truck is up for sale.

I finally found what I was looking for going from dealer lot to dealer lot. It had almost everything on it that I wanted except a couple of items. I had a friend of mine in 1979 ordered his Chevy 4x4 SB an it was 4 months before it came in. He told me that at the time they had a strike on the assembly line an it was just setting. I will probably try to order my next one, maybe from (tomeygun), I here some are getting good deals from him. Think he'll still be around in a 100 years when my current CTD wears out. :-laf

I made up a order list from KBB.com and Dodge's website, then went shopping. Must have looked at 30 or more trucks, but weren't what I had on the list. Then called Tomeygun and ordered one the way I wanted it. That's the only way to go.

got the best price with ordering. not only that, there wasn't one truck any where within 1000 miles exactly like i wanted it. at least thats what the dealer said.

I ordered mine. I knew what I wanted, plus a couple things my wife wanted added, so the only way to get it was to order. Ordered Nov. 8, still not here as of 1/21. It will be worth the wait.

ordered

I have a 2wd loaded truck and a 6speed there was no way that the dealer had it on the lot. I waited about 8 long weeks. But it was just what I wanted.

Ordered

To get exactly what I wanted, I had to order. When I called my friend @ the dealer and gave him the equipment list, he looked at it and said - lemme guess, nothing is negotiable, including the color... Chuckled and put in the order. :D

All of my previous vehicles have been picked from the dealer's lot. This time I ordered. It gives me some leeway to try and sell my current truck, rather than trading it in, and it seems I can never find one that matches what I want in the lot. They usually have too much extra stuff that I would never need or use.

My dealer had the specs for what iwanted. I was looking for an 03 ho which i could not order in 04. found exactly what i wanted downstate. i also got 4800 off invoice. I am extreemly impressed with this truck. this is by far thebest truck i have ever had. gotto love it.

Bought the 98 off the lot. Had what I was looking for at the time. But I orderedthe 02 and 04. Recommend ordering. That way it comes just the way you want it. I like STs which means often you need to order to get configured just how you want it.

As others have said, I ordered mine to get it just the way I wanted it. ;)

After having lived with it in all types of weather, I can honestly state that I wouldn't change a thing on the spec. sheets even if I could - the only option that hasn't proven itself to be totally invaluable is the one that I hope to never test: the side curtain airbags.

I told my dealer what I was looking for in September and he called me in November with 'my truck'.

He knew how the last two I had bought from him were configured and picked up exactly what I wanted from a dealer in Texas.

Buying off the lot may have it's benifits, particulary this time of year and even more so if a model/design change is in the works.

This "600" announcement has the lots full of steally I mean really nice 2500 and 3500's. It's got me thinking hard that with the right price and not taking a spanking on taxes, I might do it and every year after( if my tax consultant can't argue me ouy of it !) Getting the cost to own lessthan 2K less maint and mods would push me that way, can't see how we are gonna get our trucks any cheeper in the long run. Have'nt even factored in risk of non-warranty repairs in the equation(not that I would even know how) Hope that answers the question and sheds a liitle differant perspective as there will always be the next one if one dose'nt like the options on this one.
