Cruising along today on another road tip and was wondering if the 5th gear falling off happened to most of you guys after you had your BOMBs in place.

Vote in the poll and let me know...

Happened at about 92,000 with no bombing at all but a lot of 5er (over 10,000 lb) towing at 1800 to 2000 rpm.

BOMB'd at 28,000 (TST PM1) - increased the BOMB's at 50,000 (275 RV injectors), at 65,000 put in new clutch (Joe Donnelly Modifieds Sachs) and installed mopar 5th gear nut fix, increased the BOMB"s again at 70,000 miles (PM3 - later upgraded). 5th gear came off at 100,050 miles. transmission still apart - some parts arrived today - hopefully the rest will arrive tomorrow - and I'll be back on the road this weekend!

108,000+, no mods, no probs yet....

My '99 has 108,000+ with no mods (Dakota Digital gauges coming) and have not had the 5th gear nut problem yet... . :D  I know it is coming cause I keep her propped open! :D

I lost 5th gear around 40k. At that time I only had the RV injectors. I've put on another 66k miles with half of that with EZ added. So far the fix is holding.

I think the bigger issue with 5th gear is whether you tow trailers or not. I think the bigger the trailer and the bigger the hills you pull trailers over, the greater the chance of losing 5th gear.
