HELP !! Starts good but dies when warm as soon as you let off of accelerator. 1994 Ram 2500 automatic. Once it dies, it is very hard to start. Please help, the dealer was and is LOST.
Try pressing on the "gas" pedal a little when you start it until you can get the idle set. That should cause it to start right up if low idle is the problem.
Setting the idle is a simple "do it yourself" job. The only tool you need is a 10mm wrench. The idle screw is near the end of the injection pump. It is almost straight up. There is a lock nut. Loosen the lock nut and turn the screw until you get the idle at about 700 RPM in gear with the AC on as Bill suggests. Then tighten the lock nut. Pretty easy except that you have to do the job by feel. If you take the pressure off the screw by sticking a screwdriver in the linkage or holding it with your left hand you can turn the adjustment screw by hand.
