dyno days in Des Moines, IA this Saturday 6/16

The title says it all. I am trying to get a feel for how many guys we could get to come out and go racing. and weather you guys wanted to race a 1/8mi or a 1/4mi. the 1/8mi is in grove city mn and the 1/4mi would be BIR! i was racing at BIR this weekend and i was approced by the GM about a diesel race and such. i just wanted to see how much intrest there was in the area for a weekend or a day of solid diesel racing. wel guys let me know what you think and maybe we could ge one in befor the frost sets in seeing as how we dont get snow.

Bill do you have a preference as to what we run? if we can get a bunch of trucks i will see what it cost to get the track for a day and get some trophys. COME ON GUYS i'm not messing around here. if we get lots of trucks and make a decent event out of it there will be trophys and such. and of course bragging rights... ... ... ..... jimmy might have to step it up once we get Chilly dialed in.

It really doesn't matter to me what we run. I would prefer the 1/4 but either one would be fun. I think Jim's rig is going to be plenty fast.

yea i think alot of guys would like to run the 1/4. and if thats how its going to be it might just a class on a bracket weekend. but if guys dont mind doing the 1/8 we might be able to get the tarck for the day and have some fun with no one to get in our way. if we run at BIR on a bracket weekend the way it works is time trials on saturday and eliminations on sunday. the camping there is great. this weekend for the show and go it was $110 for fri-sun. friday was test and tune all day and then tim trials and eliminations and such and camping was all in there for the $110. we might be able to do it cheaper at the 1/8. so let me know guys

Well maybe we should just look at doing the 1/8th for the time being then, I am game either way. I am still going to try and set up a weekend in Fargo this summer too.

Just curious. But what or where is BIR? I just did 1/8 and 1/4 this past month and really prefer 1/4. Did the 1/4 in Billings and then the 1/8 last weekend at local airport and the quarter is way funner. Our big rigs don't wake up until the 1/8 mark. I need to get my new output shaft in, I snapped it at the line during my second time trial run last weekend.

With what Andy is asking about, is not just a weekend we all can go up and race. We are talking possibly a once a year event. Not that any of us would not want to take away from the other diesel events already out there. We are looking to see if there is a market for us here in our back yard, and Brainard International Raceway would like to have us there, but we need to have a true interest.

So it goes back to the big question, do you guys want to run an 1/8 at the grove which is a little closer to home, or if you prefer to run a 1/4 mile up in BIR. They are willing to work with us, and are interested in not just quick light duty diesels but Semi's also... ... ..... just depends on what we can get together. I have already volunteered my time if need be to help promote this. We just need a general interest on who may want to race. Also we are not really trying to set any dates, but just looking for who is interested, remember not everyone can do every event all the time... ... including me.

For myself I like the 1/4 mile... ... ... .

Maybe we should extend this question to others that would travel across country to events like IRP for example as well?

BIR doesn't have a sledpulling setups do they for the sledpullers?

They could if the interest is there. At IRP they truck the clay in and make a track on the return road. Not real hard to do, and BIR has a little more room than ORP.

If there is no interest in anything then it would not be worth the time. If there is a big enough interest I am sure we could get a show like the DHRA or someone else to come, but there has to be interest in it all to make this work.

well put Jim. as jim stated we are looking to set-up a annual thing here in our back yards. The GM at BIR wants diesels and wants them bad, so lets see what we can stir up for them. Jim and I will be making another showing at BIR befor the summer is over thats for sure.

Count me in for whatever I can do. Help with tech, announcing, whatever.

I'd like to see 1/4 mile. I think BIR would be an awesome venue and I'd like to see this thing grow!

I'll see what I can shake up for interest in a few other places as well.

Do you guys already have posts in the Ford and GM sites (I rarely venture over there... )?

Any suggestions other then word of mouth?

How do they (BIR) wish the interest to be conveyed back to them? Emails? Posts on BIR's website? Your word? ???

Andy, Mind posting your time slips? I'm curious as to what you (and Jim) ran!.

Andy and I can take care of the venue in interest for the GM at BIR. Yes we are on the other sites looking to see if there is an interest, Ford and Chev alike.

Personally I have not run yet, I have only 5 weeks on my truck now since I redid a few things, Dave is working out the details for my trans for the way I want it, and I still have to get the NX kit installed. As far as the Fat Kid, well it is no secret he won the 12 sec quick diesel event at IRP this year, meaning he has to be as close to 12's as possible without breaking out. Think, and correct me if I am wrong Andy but a 12. 04 is the best so far on number 2 and some windshield washer fluid.

well i just called on the 1/8 track for a day of racing all depends on the amount of trucks we get. but for the price... ... ... ... ... .:eek::eek: might have to hit up our sponsors for a little help.
