Ride and Drive in SLC area

Palmdale, CA event for October 26th still on???

Film At 11:00

At least one camera will be rolling. Ken has sent me a couple videos of last years event, and he'll be taping this year too. We could use some digital footage which would be easiest to install on a website(or so I'm told).

I've been cautioned not to do any smokey burnouts:( Makes the tires even harder once they cool down. Evidently the idea is to get them warm but not overheat them.

Just once, Maybe we can do a smokey burnout side by side, Nowel. I know I do it to half track already. :D

Those wheels I talked about might be ready for this weekend, 15's, the Guys at DD are going to try fitment today, we might have to do a little grinding on the calipher, grind away, I need traction and so do the rest of us.

Can you tell there is some excitement here??????:D :D  :D :D

Gary, is it 6 AM or 6 PM,could not bring up the site to check on times.

Still need to replace the lift pump, but should be there. :D

Hey HVAC,

I talked to Gary tonight and I can't make it for the run (fourwheeling trip at superstition this weekend) in Palmdale. However can ya let me know the AN fitting size's you used to go from the lift pump to the filter and then to the pump and the length's??? I need to do it to mine and would apprciate any help you could give me. Feel I need to do this before I get my DDIII's and replace my stock lift pump.

Thanks

Tom

I'm Ppprettty Esxciited!!!

Gary, 15" wheels sounds too cool! I'm hampered by my rear drums though. I have a disc conversion in site for a winter project. I need lots of suspension help over the winter:)

tjplatte,

We need to talk. You need five metric to -6 adapters and five -6 swept/swivel 90's. That and some -6 line.

Might just have to grin and bear it!!!

Was talking with Bill K. today, he was trying to hook me up with a local that has his setup. I am working 12hr days with NO days off. Been like this since Osama started his war!!!

I will probably try and get out there. Questions...

Is everyone with the CTD going to be in the same general area (pit).

How much to run... kinda curious about my truck.

Wife and Newborn probably will go with me, but not much shade there.

Will ANYONE have Bill K's setup on a truck that DOESN'T produce over 950HP (like HVAC), would like to see what his stuff feels like.

Anyone know how much the pit passes are (always alot more than general admission, and LACR is HIGH on the prices).

Do you need a helmet to run or anything special?

Anyway, will probably forgo some sleep and check it out, sounds fun and I'd like to bounce some questions off of ya'all out there.

:D :D :D

Admission in past has been $20 for Saturday if you want to go both days it's $30. There is no pit pass for this event admission lets you into the pits! The proceeds are for the kids too! Enjoy :D

:) Per the local paper, admission Saturday will be $10 both days would be $15.

Eagle,

My truck has all the stuff that you can bolt on from DD. (480hp)

I have shade and will be bringing it.

If you have a helmet bring it, if not, I will have mine and you are more than welcome to use it.

We all are planning to pit in the same area, and make sure you bring some chairs.

I checked the weather and it should be in the 70's.

Darn

I can't believe it, I have been wanting to go to this event for a couple of years now. I live just around the corner now but won't be able to make it - I'm getting married on Saturday. Heck, we could have even done some bench racing and BOMBING at my place before or after... Bummer. Maybe I could sneak off in the morning for a quick peak... hmmm.

Have fun if I don't make it. Whats the estimated ET with the new twins Nowel?

Well, don't try to call the track. They have a 2224 number which refers you to the 2225 number which refers you to the 2224 number which...

I admit that you will get to listen to some awesome recorded messages. So you do have that going for you:)

I was trying to determine how the racing was going to be organized on Saturday. Heads up would be my preference. No brackets if you please. I sent an email to the track acknowledgeing the racing started at 10:00 and asked if we would be racing heads up all day. They emailed back fairly quickly that the racing was 10:00 to 03:00. Didn't exactly answer my question.

If anyone can get a camp table and chairs into the pits I'll pay for your entry. Even if you aren't going to race, just some shade and a table and chairs would be a welcome respit. We might need some room to lay out parts if we do that cam change in Gary C's engine:D I'll bring an ice chest with some water and soda. Gary is bringing a generator I believe and I'll bring my itty bitty compressor to provide air for the tires. What else do we need? Hmmmm?

Hey, asked the wife if she wants to go to Palmdale for the Honeymoon!!!:D

Nowel call me tonite, 760 723 5567

Went to my suspension guy today and he answered a lot of questions.

He does all of Forces funny car bodys and makes funny car chassis for the top fuel funnies.

Bracket Racing?

Got an email back today from LACR. Looks like Saturday will be bracket racing. That sucks IMO! I wish we could just race head to head:(

Shop across from track!

HVAC, our shop is right across the street from the track, the table and chairs are no problem! have tools and such if needed. as for traction hope for the best:confused: PM me fri. nite and let me know what i can do for ya! see ya later.

And to those that are racing... ... . good luck!

Radial Racng Tips

I have been attempting to make my car hook on radials for 6 or 7 years now lol. Here is what works for me so take it for whats it worth I guess.

WATER BAD NO WATER it gets in the tread then drips on the track after your burnout.

Just to enough of a burnout to knock the dirt off of them. Turn them over real good for just a sec. It gets them Kinda warm and cleans them off really good.

Pray to the traction god

Be gentle, in my car(which is nothing like a twin turbo diesel lol) I did best to roll out at a very small amount of throttle then nail it. But turbo lag throws a curve in that.

My best time on radials is a 12. 78@114 and my best on slicks with that motor was an 11. 98@112 both done on the same day.

Auto guys, have you tried leaving from an idle?? I know the smoke cloud would be huge but it might kill your spin problem, or create a really bad one when the turbo(s) spool up.

Good luck guys we expect a full report ;)

Clark

EDIT almost forgot to mention this. The other night our track owner(which has a bombed PSD  ) Took almost 1/2 second off by doing this. He built up about 10lbs of boost and just let off the brake pedal. Once the truck got moving he nailed it. Went a 15. 38
