Ok, I know your reading this Keith. Can you give up the goods on the 03 cam yet or is it still to early? I might have to have me one of them...

Jeez, relax... it's not like I read this thing every day.

Anyway, we do have a cam in our '03, but other testing has prohibited changing it for the next revision sitting on the bench waiting to be tested. Hopefully soon though.

krabman, where can I find some info on the B-1B kwikspool turbo? How do you like it? What kind of boost are you seeing?

Thanks Dan Hill

krabman,

how fast is your truck? you have the most heavily modded 03 out of anyone on this board that i know of. i know that with just and ez my truck feels real fast. how much faster does you truck feel with the dd and ksb1? here is the real question, when you are going 70 on the interstate and you floor it how hard does it push you into the seat? could you tow 15000 with your truck with the egt is the safe range?

Flooring it on the freeway feels about the same as takeoff in a jet. Highest egt I have trapped so far is 1123. I have towed my boat but its not much of a load. The cooling seems to be the equal of the DD turbo or better and they say they have towed up to the 15k range safely. The quickspool lights up quite a bit faster than the DD turbo posting better numbers up to 2600 rpm. Top hp is the same. I had planned on buying the DD turbo as I drove a truck near identical to mine cept he has a standard ez and the DD turbo and that was a sweet ride. That one (DD turbo) wasnt going to be available for some weeks when I was already in the midst of spending as much money as possible before my wife turned off the green light so I went to the B-1 when they said they would take it back no questions asked if I didnt like it. I do like it though. The shop where I had the injectors put in is DD all the way and they were pretty skeptical of the B-1 when I brought it in but they are all converts now. The truck has no smoke and drives better than stock. I have managed to get the same gas milage as stock on a few occasions, typically its a little worse. I just cant seem to keep my foot out of it. Overall Im loving life in regards to the truck. Of course I do have my eye on the timing boxes coming down the pike. And the cam...

Oops, Sorry Dan. Missed your post. You can contact Rod at Wildcat diesel and he can give you the lowdown on the various options in regards to the B-1 and its variants. Or you could contact Kurt directly at 505-534-0434. As I said in the previous post the kwikspool makes boost earlier and had when compared directly to the DD turbo more power (the kwikspool has at most points up to 2200 rpm between 100 and 150 ft lbs. more torque) through the bottom and midrange. This translates directly into more seat of the pants from the kwikspool. All in all Yardly has got a winner with it IMHO

krabman, seeing as we have the indentical mods other than the turbo, do you have any dyno numbers, and or track times? What have you heard regarding the timing boxes? I have ridden in an auto with someones timing box and no other mods which was impressive. Although his has falled on him 3 times. I am looking forward to the edge box or Van Aaken box.

Thanks Dan

Yep, got dyno numbers. In fact I got the DD turbo matched up on the same page as mine to compare. It gets too blocky to post here but I can email it to you if you PM me an addy. No track times, not my gig. The VA box was ran on the other truck and didnt produce as much power as the ez. The quadzilla 100 hp box was also tested and that one pulled less power than the ez as well. I dont have any inside info on the upcoming timing boxes so all I know is what I have read here.

Krabman,

Does your B1B turbo use the same size elbow for connecting to the exhaust or is it a different size? I am wondering cause I am contemplating a Pacbrake turbo mounted brake and am wondering if this turbo will fit to properly. I know that you can get different sizes of outlets, but which one do you have? It seems that this turbo is the way to go. I really need a way to get the heat out!

Also, is a turbo mounted exhaust brake going to affect EGT's much? Or should I look at an inline brake?

Jeff

Krabman,

Can you send me a copy of your Dyno results? Not sure if I can do anything with it, but I might be able to cleanit up some to get it posted.

They can machine the exhaust housing to match up to the stock elbow which is what I did. For this reason elbow mounted brakes should be possible but I havent tried it myself. I would contact Rod or Kurt, I do know that it has been done but Im not sure what the specifics are. I am not one of the guru's in the field so I cant say with expertise what the best options for e-brakes are. I am of the understanding that inlines provide on average a little better breathing and reduced egts and this is the route I would take were I to do it myself. crabjoe where did you want that dyno results sheet sent?

http://www.wildcatdiesel.com/ for wildcat diesel or you can call Kurt at 505-534-0434. Price depends on exactly which turbo you get and how you set it up. I was once castigated for posting prices I paid so Im not going to go there. It is a little bit more than the DD turbo if you want a ballpark.

So you dynoed your truck with both turbos? That I'd be interested in seeing too. Shoot them my way if you can.

Nope Keith the truck with the DD turbo is the second one you sold if I recall right. The trucks both dynoed within 2 hp when new and now dynoed on the same dyno again within a few days of each other. Same parts cept he has the DD turbo and a standard (edge) EZ. Other differences are he is 4" straight piped and I have a 4" muff/resonater setup, I have the 3. 73's and larger tires, he has the 4's with stock tires. Still a pretty close comparison. You could call Lenny and have him send you all the runs. We both ran a dozen or better. I have the readout with torque graphed for my truck stock and modified best run, the other truck's best run for torque, and another line down at the 450 or so mark that I have no idea what it goes to since it doesnt seem to corelate with anything either truck did. It also states total hp and torque for the best runs on both trucks. That is what Im trying to figure out how to post since I now have a whole lot of requests for it. Hopefully crabjoe will be able to figure out how to shrink it and keep it readable here.

Well, if that's the case, that's not really our turbo kit. He's got the turbo, but "HAD TO HAVE IT" before it was available for sale. We sent him the turbo and downpipe only, the rest was up to him.

Also, that truck always has seemed to perform marginal at best. For the mods he has, he's down 50hp from what we see here.

Now, if you had the complete turbo kit and had done it back to back on the same truck, I'd be interested in the results, but obviously this is probably not something an end user would do (and I understand that).

Kinda like comparing apples to oranges.
