Yes, you read that correctly. On a two way run between Louisville, and Cincinnati the trip computer reads 27. 9 and 28. 4 respectively. Compute the odometer error for my oversize 285 tires (9%) and you get 30. 41 and 30. 95 mpg respectively. I also checked this run by refilling the tank, and get almost the same reading. This was at 70-72 mph, unloaded, with cruise. #ad

So for all you lurkers out there, not only does this truck develop serious power, but my mileage has gone up as well. The mods are listed in the signature. My effective gearing due to the tires is 3. 21. The engine is just loafing along at this speed.

I also have the DTT vb/tc and that is one fine product. The products did EXACTLY what the Bill K. and the guys at Diesel Dynamics said they would. My temps are not exceeding 1200 at sustained WOT, and I can only get a puff of smoke from a dead stop when I nail the throttle. The DD TTPM is on setting #2. #ad

I"m sorry, I just can't buy that as much as I'd like to. Are you sure you're not making the tire adjustment the wrong way??

How many miles did you travel on these trips and how many gallons did you use? What factor did you use to compensate for the tires?

30 seems high but maybe not. my trip computer always shows at least 27mpg and i usually get 17mpg on the highway at 79mph. if your trip computer is working with the 2's want to trade me computers? all my computer is good for is temp.

No offense or anything, I just think you've made some serious math errors somewhere. No way you're gonna get that with an auto, and all that performance stuff. AND, THERE'S NO WAY YOU SHOULD TRUST THAT COMPUTER. It's got gremlins in it (digital gremlins). #ad

I'll be down in Georgetown tomorrow (3/24), why don't we meet up and you can follow me back to MI. at 65 mph. #ad
Hehehehe. (see post in 2nd Gen, 550 mile, "certified,"... . ). I know my odometer is correct. We can fill'em up at the same time and do the math then.

The trip mpg box uses the ecm to compute fuel usage. Bigger injectors and boxes that clip to the pump solenoid wire both fool the ecm by delivering more fuel than it knows about.

Ummm

NO

30 MPG... .

Hmmmmmmm.

On 300 mile trips doing 70 to 75 going down a flat I-5 freeway, with the same tires and gearing, etc, I'm only getting 18. 5 at best... . and that is dividing miles by actual gallons (filling up the end of fill neck), and computing for the larger tires.

OH WHAT A FEELING!! until you discover that the trip computer is now inaccurate due to the injectors.

Been there done that!

You are getting better mileage, but not what that thing is telling you.

As a hint, reset the computer when you are near the end of the tank. You will see it doing some fancy footwork regarding the MPG vs MILES to GO. (just don't run the truck dry doing this test)

Right, except for the fact that I drove 112 miles and used 3. 7 gallons of fuel.

The truck got a consistent 21-23 mpg before the mods (hwy).

Did you account for tire size? you may actually be closer to 35mpg?

After I installed my reverse bismolic attenuation actuator and filled it with cox airplane fuel, it did actually get 42mpg. Really. The only problem, is I had to start it with a big windup spring.

2000ney--is that all downhill with a wind behind ya--just kiddin'--hey guys read his original post, he said he checked it by filling the tank===gallons used to miles driven--that's what you did 2000ney right-you double checked by the never fail method---awesome is all I can say--chris

<font color = blue> Hmmmm, I'm off to see Bill K. myself in a few weeks time and my return trip to California will be I-5, I-90, I-15, approx 1500miles running empty. I'll be real pleased if I can get anywhere near those figures, because I then take my 4000 pound camper and head East for 5,000miles before shipping the truck and camper back to Europe ..... oh yes, and the dreaded US$4. 00/gallon price tag. #ad
Oh well my truck is worth it! #ad

Is there any way to reflash the trip computer so that it gives accurate mileage and distance-to-empty readings for trucks with non-stock injectors?
