Have seen a few defective DEF tanks, sending units, connectors. Connectors and lines are cheap cheeesy plastic junk no matter whos truck or engine that they are used on.

Mike. :)

I can just imagine the problems if they use similar stuff on farm tractors and off road construction machinery considering the conditions where they are operated.

H&S now has a delete kit for these trucks :-laf. I plan on doing it, but don't want to be the first guinnea pig.

You won't be the first. The son of a coworker just did this to his 4500. Full deletes of everything including urea. He claims 2-3 mpg increase and much better drivability. Take it for what it's worth though, I'm not sure if these are hand calculated and all other claims are subjective.

There is an interesting article in the most recent version of TDR about exhaust deletes and their effect on mileage with one guys 6. 7l and I think objectively it works out to 0. 5 mpg. You should read it though as I may have interpreted it wrong.

If you really want to see a bad location for a DEF tank - check out the Chevrolets..... The tank appears to hang on the outside of the frame on the passenger side and actually hangs down quite far. In a long wheel-base vehicle it would seem to be the first thing that would make contact when getting high-centered.
