I have read where a lot of you use this and swear by it, here's my questions:

Is it Ok to use when the Truck is Brand New?

Do you use for every tank or every other tank?

thanks

Gary, alot of us use it in every tank, then some of us use it only once a month, there are many variations. Decide on the product you want to use then follow the instuctions. Regards Pete

Actually, it is best to start using it right away. Most of us that use it add it to every tankful.

Gary:
Remember the additive is mainly for the injectors and fuel pump. They need the extra from the start. The Stanadyne I use is for cleaning and lubrication. The Bosch mech. said it was needed , that's good enough for me.
Congrats. on a new one. Remember to keep it around Rams. Intergration with other trucks ain't good . They're always trying to get closer. Watch um. #ad

I use it, but except in the coldest weather will use a lower concentration than the bottle calls for. If I'm just "topping off" a tank (10 gallons or less), I may skip it; but in general I'll add a little each time I stop.
Scientific basis for my method: Nope. Not in your wildest dreams. Just feels right, a compromise between not using it at all (like Dodge says) and using at full strength (which has to put extra $$$ in the manufacturer's pocket).

Stanadyne Performance Formula is what I bought a case of.

Thanks for the input.

Every tankfull since new... The Cummins purrs like a big cat when cold instead of rattle, the injectors are staying clean, the expensive pump is getting the best lube, no smoke and the HO motor + 6 speed runs like a big block muscle car #ad
Well worth the $ imo. I've tried Stanadyne and Lubrication Engineers products. The LE is by far the better product imo, but I think anything is better than nothing when it comes to additives.

Try Howes, It is the only one that sells out every other week at the local Flying Js. It works for my rig.

I'll second what Dane said.

When you look at cost, it is inexpensive peace of mind. Regardless of where you live, how cold it gets, or how new the truck is.

Is there a difference between cetane booster and a catalyst, or are they the same thing. I see some fuel additive labels make mention of using a catalyst which increases cetane points, whereas others simple state will increase cetane number 3-7 points. If there is a difference what is it and which is better?

Hi Gary
I've got a first gen truck with 127,000+ miles on it that I have used Stanadyne Performance formula on for over 100k and I swear by it. About a year ago when I was picking up a case my local Bosch rebuilder said they had torn down VE (First Gen pump) with over 300k that were still in excellant condition - normal life span on these pumps is 150 to 200k. I use it at every fill.

I use additives in both diesels since I got them. Every tank. It's real cheap insurance.

I add Stanadyne Performance Formula to every tank. Need to keep those injectors clean and that pump lubed.

. . Cummins tech in Missoula, MT recommended Power Service to me late one winter night years ago. Happens that they sold it. Bought it and been using it since. Doesn't hurt that Wal-Mart also carries it at a much cheaper price!

One of the back issues of the TDR magazine covers most of the additives with their various coverages.

Mactruck,
Mag-Hytec carries it in any quantity you want 1 pint and up. Mag-Hytec's number is 1-818-786-8325. In larger quantities you can call LE direct at 1-800-537-7683 and ask for Clay Calk.

Sincerely, Kevin

I also use Power Service.

Where can you get LE, Stanadyne or Howes? Not alot of flying J's in CT. I have 2000 miles on it and I want to start protecting the pump and injectors NOW!
I wonder if JRE racing carries that stuff. Im about 45 minutes away.
