Diesel Fuel Filler Cap

I purchased the green one with the tether on it from Geno's when ordering some other supplies. I like it because the filler neck fits up inside and it has an internal o ring to keep it in place, less chance of something getting in. You have to push it on. When fueling I tuck it up behind the DEF cap. After all, at the price of the trucks now a days what's twenty bucks if it gives you a sense of security. Works for me.

Carl one is nice. I have to say, I love the aluminum cap I got from Geno's. I actually bought both the DEF and green cap before I went to pick up my truck. Wouldn't have it any other way. The cap is cool and easy to grab on to. Not to mention all the compliments I get from the guys at the full serve pumps.

Put a small amount of oil on the "O" ring and it will come off easier. I can see the Carli cap would be even easier to use. Probably made by the same people!

I have one from GENOS. Not happy with it, but better than nothing. One of the O rings broke the 2nd time I used it. VERY difficult to remove the cap. I will try a little oil.

WV Ram. How does that cap secure to the filler neck? My neck has no threads, internal or external.

I sure would like to know WHY Ram doesn't put a cap on the fuel fill line!! Makes NO sense at all. Dirt or snow could easily get in the tank. I bought the green one from Geno's and the blue DEF one too. They work great but are rather expensive.

Would it be possible to replace the upper portion of the filler neck with one from an earlier model complete with twist on cap?

It self aligns in hole, then snaps on. I went with this one because its cheap, and less likely to be taken, aluminum ones are pricey and had friends that had them come up missing. Hopefully no one will want a plastic one.

Nothing can get INTO the tank UNLESS the 2nd flapper is activated. I ran 42k miles on my 2013 RAM 3500 CTD w/capless fill and had ZERO problems. I have 113k miles on my 2014 RAM 3500 CTD w/capless fill and have had ZERO problems. Capless fills have been around for years on various competitor's vehicles.

I used to live up north in Wisconsin and Wyoming and in the winter the snow packs into every nook and cranny. I have had it packed all around the fuel cap on previous trucks. Not having a fuel cap on the filler neck is asking for water and road salt to get into the tank & fuel.

Bean counters are OK with your snow packing around your capless tank, after all it's your problem with water in fuel, if it happens.

When I first opened my fuel for there was this white crystalized stuff all over everything including inside the fill hole. Later I figured out the dealer overfilled the DEF and the dried DEF was what I was looking at. Green cap for me!

Bean counters are OK with your snow packing around your capless tank, after all it's your problem with water in fuel, if it happens.

Is it really bean counters? Cause a plastic twist on cap is pretty cheap compared to all the filter and flappers they added to make it cap less....

I'm just curious what the big deal is about it being capless? New marketing or branding.... I'd rather just have a lockable cap or door.
