I got the Diesel fuel heater electrical connector recall for my 2012 Ram many months ago. I opted to wait on the repair to get past the expected frenzy of people trying to get this issue corrected. However I have been actively trying to get my local dealer to make the repair for over 2 months now. They keep telling me that they cannot get the parts. Any insight on this???

There are 67,000 wiring kits in stock. However there are no fuel heater assemblies except for 600+ in dealer inventory. The chances he needs the heater are very slim so perhaps he thinks he needs one before actually inspecting your truck.

Sag,
I am not real familiar with this issue but I assumed from the information on the recall notice that the problem was with a wiring connector....not the heater itself. If so, shouldn't my dealer know this?

Should yes, does, apparently not. It can involve the filter housing but they would not know that unless they inspect the truck.

If the filter housing was impaired shouldn't I be seeing signs of Diesel leakage on my driveway or at least on the engine? Just thinking that maybe I could move them along if I can give them some of my own troubleshooting information.

I had the recall done - called dealer when first got notice, dealer said no parts - dealer called back a few weeks later, said had parts - got done no problem then.

Have to take in for the steering column wiring recall now - also need to have another tire sensor replaced under warranty.

Fca expects very few heater failures. I have done so many recalls that I have gone through about half a spool of solder and have not seen any leakers yet

Dealer finally got the parts for the fuel heater connector and the steering column wiring recall. Supposed to repair both first week of November.

The wiring connector repair looks like a PIA for the dealer mechanic, I watched mine being done and the dude had to climb onto the engine and reach down
then he put it on the lift and worked on it from underneath . He appeared to be one of the better mechanics in his prime, not a Duffus .
I hate it when they have to plow around in the factory wiring like that, sheese.
Trouble is if the recall is ignored then Fiat is not responsible when the thing burns to the ground.

No sure why he was underneath. I do it all from the top but yes you do have to lay on top to reach. Even more fun with the 45-5500s with all the up-fitter @@@@ in the way
