Questions About Winter Diesel Fuel

CNN headline story this AM

OK I know this will make some of mad - not intended to - and it probably can't happen BUTTTTTTT - I'm so mad about these EXCESSIVE OIL PROFITS that I could scream..... And even the regular Republicans have to start saying something or else they'll get into trouble as well - well how about this... ...

1st - the vast majority of oil left to find is on land OWNED by the US Government - the Continental Shelf, almost all of the West and Alaska - I say that the US Government either require that all oil from those areas be sold at X (say $10/barrell) IN THE USA - and refined for domestic use at X ($1. 00/gallon) - or something like that. If they don't like it SCREW THEM Oo. - they don't get any! Afterall the US Government made the Atomic Bomb - Not Coorporate America. We Should consider having our own US Government Owned Oil Exploration and Refineries that would run for No Profit!

Those products would be sold at stations to be built. This could be considered a National Emergency for economic and National Security - so eminent domain could be established to build stations. COMPETITION would make BIG OIL RUN and HIDE.

Not perfect - But it's OUR OIL NOT THEIRS to screw us with! Let them try and sell their expensive gas... ... ... .

If the government were running the whole show, from the oil well to the pump, fuel would cost $5. 00 per gallon and they'd still loose money.

Bob

The Gov't has never done anything better than private enterprise can do it. The price of fule is just supply and demand. Supply went down, supply is getting greater across the globe so prices go up. We need to be building more refinerys to help the supply side. It just basic economics.

Keep grinnin,

If the government can't do anything better than Private then

Why would we want a 2nd rate Military - They are GOVERNMENT! I hear that all the time - then if so we should have a PRIVATE MILITARY/POLICE and FIRE DEPARTMENTS as well... ... . The Government can deliever stuff the privates can't even begin to do without EXESSIVE $$$$$$$$$$$$$

The government keeps military costs down by keeping enlisted salaries low. The last I heard, an E-4 with a wife and two kids qualified for food stamps. Civil Service employee pay is much higher.

Fraud, waste, & abuse within the Civil Service community is legendary. You don't think it was a GI that paid $150 each for hammers or $2000 each for toilet seats do you?

Bob

Hammersley, you are right about local gov't providing the public services and the federal gov't providing protection for our great country, but they are lousy at any other business venture and should stay out of it. Sure there needs to be certain standards, etc. but private enterprise always does a better job than gov't, especially when there can be competition.

I'm not mad, why are you? That's what the "conservative" movement is all about. Pro business. It's what a majority of Americans thought they wanted.

I have to ask you about "even the regular Republicans... get into trouble as well". Who else is in trouble? Are you not aware of what party controls the Senate, the House of Rep. , the White House, and soon by an even greater margin, the Supreme Court? It's no longer a two party system. Hasn't been for some time now. Personally, I think both parties suck.
