I ran a mechanical gauge for 10+ years on my gen 2, pipe to tube needle valve directly off the top of the filter housing opened no more than 10% (just enough to get a fuel pressure reading), 1/8" nylon air brake tubing rated for 400 psi to a gauge. Forget the brand of the gauge but I've still got it boxed up in the garage if your interested. Never had a leak or a problem with this setup.

Thanks for the input. I spoke with the guys at Vulcan Perfomance and they don’t know why I’m going through them so quickly. At least now they sell just the seal so I can order it and rebuild the islolator. I think my guage needs a little tightening on the back because it shouldn’t have leaked so much fuel in the cab. I mean we’re only talking 15 psi here. I have DiPricol gauges by the way.

Why not skip the isolator and go with just a needle valve just barely cracked open? With it located in the engine bay it is also a way to shut the fuel off completely if the line ruptures. You might find your pressure readings are more accurate as well.

Vulcan sent me a new Vito’s seal for the isolator. He also told me to check for a machining burr they sometimes leave when they drill the hole for the spring and ball. Sure enough it had a big burr. Sanded it down and reinstalled. So far so good.
