A friend of mine is looking at buying a new Cummins to haul her trailer and was thinking of taking it into Mexico. But she's hearing rumors of the diesel in Mexico not being compatible with the new engines. Something about fuel in Mexico being "ultra low sulphur" vs "low sulphur". She was actually also considering a Ford.. think I've got her away from that decision at least lol. Anyone know anything about the fuel in Mexico?

Thanks

Tell her if she wants to go to Mexico she would be better off with an MRAP.

Anything other than a 2nd gen and excessive filtering is taking a HUGE chance. The new ones will likely kill the DPF if the correct fuel cannot be found.

Last time I was in Baja (been a few years)there was no ultra low. The fuel quality was great, better power and fuel economy than U.S. Fuel.Buy a 100 gallon in bed tank and fill before you cross-no worries
