Diesel Fuel Prices!!!

Got a question, Can you burn the off highway fuel in our trucks, if so will it hurt the engine, fuel pump, etc?

Don't feel too bad, guys. On my last trip to Southern California, I saw diesel as high as $2. 03 per gallon, but I looked aoround and only paid $1. 69 for that wonderful diesel 2. Only time I've ever suffered from sticker shock at a gas station!

I paid 131. 9 at AMOCO on 522 north of Winchester, VA on 3/17 and 161. 9 on 3/21 at AMOCO in Arlington, VA (75 miles apart)

At the beggining of the week I took both Rams to the Flying J in Fife and filled 'em up for $1. 38 a gallon. All the other 'gas' stations are around $1. 48-$1. 61 for diesel. I'm quite happy.

KIMREY- You CAN burn off road diesel in your truck, matter of fact it has higher Cetane ratings and generally lower sulfur, and gives better mileage.
The problem is- it is dyed red to indicate no road use taxes have been paid, vs. the green color of fuel from a station pump. IF you get caught with red fuel in your tank, you are liable for a fine up to $10,000.

The prices ALL of you guys are paying are CHEAP compared to Hawaii. Diesel here is $2. 03 a gal, red is $1. 44. Reg. unleaded is $1. 89, Premium is $2. 09. These are average prices, can vary by 2 or 3 cents at different stations.

All you on the east coast, need to come on out west so you can start paying some real money for fuel.

By brother used to work at a gas station. Really made him mad to know the west coast pays higher prices that the rest of the country. They always told him the prices where based on OPEC and all that. Made him more mad because he knows the west coast get its crude from alaska and not foreign. Then quit when they announced on the news that BP was shipping alaska crude overseas and creating an artifical shortage on the west coast, just to jack up prices.

)... over in Europe the price of diesel, adjusted for liters versus US gallons is nothing short of criminal... eqivalent pricing is US$4. 00/gallon. If you're visiting Europe on holiday this year, bring a few extra $$$ travelling money.

Here in the beautiful North Woods I've paid $1. 69 for Amoco's 50 cetane Premier Diesel all winter. Today it is down to $1. 59. I recently traveled to Chicago and got fuel at Flying J along the way and it was $1. 39. They say up here the transportation costs are what adds the extra change. Funny thing is that it never affected the pricing until recently. We had always been on a par with the big cities to the south and sometimes even less. I say price gouging is happening in our neck of the woods.

I myself don't know of any truck stops on Long Island, Its a shame we are paying $1. 74 on the Island. I go upstate about every other week to where I will be moving at end of year. I fill-up at truck stop, Exit 12, Interstate 88, $1. 47 Gall. We are really getting ripped off on Island

That's what I thought. I've been asking around about truck stops on Long Island ever since I started this post. No one knows of any. Unfortunately, I'll have to stick around for awhile. There is definitely a move in the future either south or west. Can't afford to stay in New York with the cost of living only going higher each year.
Current price of diesel on eastern Long Island is around $1. 79
