Friend of mine just had a 24 valve come back from out West that was supposidly "Overhauled" in frame just before it started for home.

Got here towing a 14,000lb. trailer and was skipping, smoking, etc.

Don't know how it possibly made it.

Got it apart, whole overhaul was half-a**ed.

Took the VP44 off and it didn't have a key in it, period!!!!

I don't know if the shop lost the key and couldn't figure out how to get the correct one, if they dropped it we did not find it in the base.

Torque on the nut alone kept it from slipping too much, held together long enough for it to get home.....

Mike. :)

WOW!! I ain't ever... ... how did they get it mashed like that?!?! I can't believe it didn't strip the threads off the end of the shaft before it tightened down..... Who put it on there? Dang, they must have used an impact wrench to put it on!!!

Customer did the install himself. This is what happens when you use the mounting bolts to draw the pump up to the gear housing. 4 bolts, tightened down a little at a time. Soooo the wrong way to do it.:eek:

Thats too bad, these trucks run like crazy when they are taken care of, and fixed right. Well hopefully it will get done right this time.
