Diesel BMW coming!

Interesting General Diesel Article

Good thread, but depressing.
I would like to see more mass transit options for urban folks. I know here in D. C. many would utilize them, but the costs are equally high and often more troublesome (parking) than just driving.
Replace some of the money allocated to oil companies by this government for exploration/etc and put them to use for the average joe, by subsidizing ridership.

The only EFFECTIVE way it it to TRULY CONSERVE!

US CAR Makers: give us good small efficient vehicles.

Drivers: SLOW DOWN, reduce trips, car pool.

EPA: Get off our backs. What's worse, 12mpg and low NOx/soot or 25 mpg?

CONSERVE? I don't believe I can conserve much more. I'm only averaging 6,000 miles per year already and that included an 11K mile round trip to Alaska.

if it was a viable option for me, i would really consider public transportation. but for the cost of the required bus passes i would need to get to work, i am looking at $150 and a 90 minute commute. and if i work late [until 23:00-00:00] no bus run then. .

Synthetic From Gas?!!!

What about synthetic diesel made from natural gas? The Barnett Shale formation in north Texas has only recently begun to be tapped. The projected wells to be drilled inthe next ten years is (I heard) 15 thousand. Thats a lot of freakin' gas. No matter how cheap it may be to convert to diesel I doubt we will ever see a considerate price. As long as it is only 15-20 cents lower than #2 from #@$%!OPEC oil people will get their eyes poked buying it, and like it when the price tops $5. 00/gallon.

no good #@$%!#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!ers

I have had it

I have had it with the oil companys making all the money. As an owner operator I was eating dirt. Then a year ago I said if my fuel price goes up $5. 00 I raise my price $10. 00 So now if the oil companys make $5. 00 I all so make $5. 00

A car delivery that was $110. 00 a year ago is now $150. now I can have bread with my dirt ;)
