Where I normally fuel up I don’t have to worry about fuel grade, they carry the recommended fuel for my 2017 Ram, however; I am traveling out of state and can only find fuel labeled #2. Can this fuel be used in my Cummins without problems? Also, what brand of DEF is the one most people like?

Grade #1 is generally more volatile and flows more freely, which causes it to work well during winter.

Grade #2 Diesel fuel #2 is recommended for general highway use.

DEF is pretty much the same as long as it is not old. Buy where there is turnover.
 
The fuel is all the same across the country, generally coming form the same refinery. The only difference is the winterized fuel you see in the northern states in the winter. If they did it correctly it is a mix of #2 and #1, if they cheaped out they cut with kerosene and\or additives then you could have issues. If you are going north make sure you fill before you get there with winterized fuel and make sure both fuel heaters are turned on and you should be fine. Fill at high volume places like truck stops, stay away from the fuel stops off the traveled routes.

unlike gasoline and top tier gas stations, they told me there is no such thing as premium diesel or top tier diesel. the only difference is turnover and additives for gelling. cheers comrades!
 
As I have read no.1 is kerosene no 2 is heating oil except the diesel has additives ( chemicals ) in it.
I have been fueling up at BP and both trucks are running better ( maybe because they pump the water out of the tanks once a year)
What ever the reason they run quieter and when need to Sprint they take off ( using the gradual depression method. Just depressing a little quicker especially if I am running on the highway.)

LOL, that's what you get for asking a radio announcer actual important questions, more nonsense.
 
I was told w the new 2018 2500 not to use biodiesel and i could only use diesel#2....


I'm pretty sure if you look in your owners manual it will tell you that any grade of #2 diesel with up to a 5% biodiesel content is acceptable, and there is also a disclaimer that you can use up to B20 fuels on most models.

It does state up to 5%, they told me no to using 20% which is what flying j carries, so i just get def there

I know its tough to figure out exactly what is acceptable, and to mak ematters worse there are discrepancies between what the Ram owners manual says and what Cummins serivce info says regarding the use of Biodiesel.

well we have the ISB 6.7 w the CM 2350, but I'm unsure on that B101, 102, 103 104 part. CM refers to the type of control module.. ie most of the newer engines have a CM 2350 ECM on them

Ah ok cool well i guess i can try some b20 and see how it runs, my local dealership said dont as it tends to gel more?

 
It is hard in my area to find a diesel, 1 or 2 that doesn’t show 5% biodiesel. Until there are no choices I will not run anything greater than 5% bio. Do they even have a non-bio diesel in the marketplace. I have so far only used Quik Trip diesel. I only run the top tier gas in my wife’s jeep and my Sierra so I just started using their diesel. The price is actually lower than the two truck stops close by.
