When will the monthly fuel cost be enogh for you????

First, why is diesel fuel more expensive than regular gas? It wasn't always that way. I thought diesel was a cheaper fuel to extract from crude than gas and therefore cheaper. Well, we all know it is quite a bit more expensive.

Now, what can we do about it? We also know that America would produce much less hydrocarbons if we all drove diesels. But a large part of the buying public won't buy a diesel for various reasons, not the least of which is it cost more for fuel. If we as a nation could bring the cost of diesel down to or lower than regular gas it would go a long way to encouraging others to buy diesel vehicles. Anybody got any connections with big government or big oil companies? They are the ones tha must do it. How about it?

You can't make one without the other diesel kerosene gasoline propane are all by products of each other, originally before the internal combustion engine gasoline was thrown out as waste when kerosene was made. diesel usually goes higher in the winter since it is sold as heating oil and the supllies drop while demand increases. the following link explains somethings

Also, in the winter the addative package is different, pronounced more expensive, than in the summer. In addition to that ULSD is more costly. In addition to that, the greed addative has been increased across the board.

This is a question I've been wondering about. Diesel is less refined. And diesel is diesel (expect for the winter blend stuff, which we don't have here), not the 50+ different blends of gas needed for the different locations throughout the country. I've alway heard that the US doesn't have enough refining capacity for diesel and has to import refined diesel, but I don't know. At some point, the cost of the natural gas/synthetic diesel will become cheaper and maybe that will help prices. I'd think there would be strong market forces to lower diesel cost since the cost of every single commodity we buy is effected by diesel prices??
