I thought I saw on the TV/News that the Governer of Washington is thinking of raising WA gas tax another 10 cents. Yikes!!!! That plus already rising prices could really slow down my travel plans!!!

Maybe it's time to look into Bio-Diesel.

Does anyone know if Bio-Diesel is available in the Seattle/Tacoma area?

And does anyone have experience using it?

Bill

Gig Harbor, WA

I wouldn't doubt it, she is a big tax and spender and she is not even the legitimate governor. They don't realize how disasterous these high diesel prices are to the state, EVERYTHING is going up in price as the truckers are getting screwed and they are the ones who deliver the goods to market.

The wife and I were going to tow the 5vr down the Oregon coast in a few weeks for the weekend to try out the new truck, about 350 miles, but I think were going to pass, because we don't want to spend $100. 00 for diesel for a little joyride. Screw the government and screw the oil companies because they are certainly screwing us.

Vauhgn

I went there to put that price in and it wouldn't take. I bet that by the end of the week it'll $3.

WOW! We're going to vacation up there again this summer. Might have to get a 500 gallon aux tank and fill up where it's only $2. 75 or so! :--)

The price for diesel is going up everywhere but up there in Washington state you folks must have the highest prices in the country right now. There must be some local explanation. Did you have a major refinery go down, or a pipeline go down, or something else that could possibly explain the super high prices? What are they saying in the Washington newspapers? Please let us know as soon as you figure out what's up.

Heres the highlights from a "Fleet Owner."com website Article...LONG!

Heres a link to an article I just read. http://fleetowner.com/news/diesel_price_west_coast_washington_030105/

Falling distillate stocks— petroleum products that are processed into either heating oil or diesel— are at fault for upward price pressure, according to EIA economist Neil Gamson. A recent cold weather snap through the U. S. created more heating oil demand, while distillate imports fell as a result of increasing demand in Europe, Gamson said. This puts distillate stocks “at the lower-end of average levels. ”

Diesel prices on the West Coast and California had spiked dramatically as a result of refinery problems, particularly with California’s low sulfur diesel blend.

“California has a unique type of diesel that is more expensive to produce,” Gamson told Fleet Owner. “When there are problems [with California diesel refiners], considering California has about 80% of the West Coast population, it’s going to affect the neighboring states. In Washington there may be some unexpected refinery problems and that will make that region tight. ”

“A few weeks ago a refinery in Alberta, Canada, the Suncor facility, went down,” Ray explained. “At that point Canada started buying up diesel from the West Coast. When you have all this demand with Canada buying up diesel from the States, the market forces take effect. There might have been some turnaround at the refineries in Washington State from shifting from winter to summer diesel production. ”

“Refinery maintenance in the Northwest got dragged out longer than expected,” Bournazian said. “That was ill-timed given the situation, because Washington State also implemented new requirements on a new diesel fuel lubricity specification in February. That hindered outside suppliers supplying that condition.

“That along with environmental regulations and distillate shortages, diesel prices went up 30 cents in Washington,” Bournazian continued. “This is the first time in a long time where other states besides California are driving up national prices. ”

At the end of the article they said it should drop as the weather warms... . We'll see!

Clay  :p

Fuel Prices

Well, it's an explanation anyhow. This spike in fuel costs just about has me driving my wifes Nissan & thats not a pretty sight! Come on warm weather & Diesel production!

How come we never hear " very mild winter temps, along with an oversight in production limits account for sharp drop in fuel prices" It only seems to work one way. IMO, what is happening now is that the oil companies like the money they are making at current prices, and they are aware that historically prices should fall in the warmer months. Why not raise it sharply right before the warm weather so when it does warm up we can just lower it to what was a "high" price a month ago, but now it is "lower" than what it has been. Thus indicating a "drop" in prices.

I have wriiten my state senator and both reps, got a reply from the rep (all 3 liberal dem's). Said it is a supply and demand thing as I called BS and said it was downright price gouging, he never replied.

Absolutely nothing on the news or in the newspapers about diesel prices, only mild complaining about gas prices going up a measly . 02 here and there and averaging about $2. 00 per gallon... ... yeah, my heart bleeds for you loser gassers as our precious diesel has gone up about . 02 per day for the last three weeks and is about . 80 per gallon higher than unleaded. It is a conspiracy and price gouging by big oil. Just like taxes, they keep raising them and there is not much you can do, feel like we are really getting screwed BIG TIME.
