What Happens When Things Go Bad... Pics..

I know the discussion has gone away from the 2 cycle detroit, but these turbo-supercharged engines are used in large numbers still by the Army. M113/M577/M1064 armored personnel carriers, command vehicles, and 120mm mortar carriers use the 6V, and HEMMTT trucks (4 axle, 8 wheel drive, front two steer) and HEMAT (5 axle, 10 wheel drive, first two and last axles steer on these) use an 8V. Most all mechanics will start them to "test" when installing a new engine with nothing but the exhaust manifolds on them. The 6V sounds like an Nascar engine with you do this and rev them up to the limiter. They are incredibly durable in military applications, and rarely need replacement unless the track or truck gets too deep in water an they inhale it.
