grid heater in my chevy conversion?

00 24v in a chevy

I am wanting to start a new project. I want reccomendations for muscle cars that will take the weight of a Cummins. I want to run a common rail Cummins, Allison transmission and I am just playing with ideas of what would work and what would be fun. What do you think of a GTO, Barracuda, Camaro? I saw a Duramax in a 65 Impala in Diesel Power Mag this month and it really got me interested.

how about...

a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix. Most people don't think of them as muscle cars, but mine was sure fast and powerful. They were designed by Delorean I believe. #ad

I think I'd try to keep it 'Mopar' too, and Charger is a good, heavy car. The extra weight of the engine over, say, a big block, will require the latest and greatest suspension and steering components, but it should be fine otherwise.

Could also do like an old Fury III or Imperial - the big tuna boats with the HUGE hoods. Hell the engine may even fit under the hood . Man, talk about a luxury tug boat!

You could probably get a 68 to 72 Dodge Coronet or Dodge Dart for less than a Charger, they both are some pretty sweet looking machines. Look on Ebay, I saw a few that had low Buy It Now prices.

Wish that guy with the Monte Carlo would have opened her up and shown us what that thing could do! Cool conversion though! Can you buy fiberglass bodies of old muscle cars and do a build that way? That way you would have to look but not have to spend the money for an original, I mean since you are not putting the original motor and suspension it, why would an original body really matter?

I really don't think that it will work on a b-body(road runner, gtx, coronet). I would almost guaruntee that it won't in an A body(dart, duster, early cuda). The Cummins is just too long. I have a GTX with a 440, and there is no extra room length-wise. The monte carlo on the video has a really long front end. Also the Mopar muscle cars were uni-body cars. (no real frame). Just my 2 cents for what little it's worth. Randy

How about stretching the front end out like they do on the Pete's when they put in the Cat motors

Mad Max had the best idea of using one of the big cars(imperial, fury, monaco). These cars had a full frame and a long front end. A two door car would be way cool and they are not overly expensive. Randy

Road Runner

I have a 69 Road Runner that i have been thinking about doing this very thing to. I have measured and the engine can be fit in with some major mods to the radiator suport area. The thing I am trying to deside is what to do about the unibody? I am torn between custom full frame and modifing a truck frame? Any suggestions?
