Diesel or Gas Generator

if i buy a 5500 watt diesel generator will that be enough to run my 220volt ac/dc stick welder? or should i go with the 7000watt gasser? my neighbor has both for sale brand new. i want the diesel of course b/c if i had to and needed fuel i could pull it out of the CTD. I think 5 gallons will run this thing for 8hrs a half load

I have a 110 volt that I use to stick weld. When I welded angle iron for additional batteries on my travel trailer, I attempted to use power from my 5500 watt Honda Powered Generac and the power came in bursts 2 seconds on two seconds off as far as powering enough electricity to heat things up, so I had to string a cord from the house.



Not enough juice I am afraid.
