Isn't this is slight problem?

fuel statistics

It all comes down to economics for me, TIME=MONEY. The more time I have at my jobsite, the more money I make. Also, my leisure time at home is more valuable than my time spent on the road or in traffic. The country is a much different place than it was in the 70’s. Traffic is infinitely worse, long lines every where you go, so I will do everything I can to minimize my time where I am not getting paid and try to maximize my time at home. The few extra dollars I spend going fast is well worth it to me.

Diesel

In St. Louis gas jumped up to 1. 98 Diesel stayed at 1. 59... ... Gas dropped to 1. 93 and diesel went to 1. 64... ... I'm confused..... gas goes up diesel stays the same..... gas comes down diesel goes up... ... I can't really complain..... I'm thrilled to death to be paying 1. 64 and getting around 15mpg around town... ...

Well put. TIME does=Money. The bottom line is what your wallet can and will stand.

The recent increases in fuel prices are really not that much when you look at what we were paying a year ago. A least around here last year the price of gas was around 1. 49/gal. Right now it is at 1. 89/gallon. What hurts is the folks who have the large gas tanks and vehicles that get poor gas milage such as the soccer moms with the huge SUVs. The only reason that they have these large SUVs is because they are a status symbol and mom feels safe in them. They seldom see the kind of driving that an SUV was really designed for. I've noticed this past week on the news that the people interviewed about the current gas prices were mainly SUV drivers. They also where the ones who also complained the loudest.

Just like you said, it all boils down to economics. If you want to drive 70 or 80 MPH have at it. If you want to own the huge SUV that gets 9 to 10 MPG, have at it. I am very happy with the CTD and the MPG that it is capable of getting with such a huge truck. This past weekend i went to Raleigh and back home on a little more than 1/2 tank of fuel. Total miles was around 382 miles. The other folks who followed us to Raleigh where driving a Chevy Blazer with a big V-8. They had to re-fuel in Raleigh for the trip home. The guy couldn't believe that I didn't need any fuel and did the trip on much less fuel than he did.

LarryB,

I like that bumber sneeker. I bet the SUVers give you dirty looks when they pass you. Of course you can just give them a big ole :D as they pass you by.

TFerring,

Looks like that station is making the diesel drivers help the gas drivers out. They reduced the price of gas by . 05 and added . 05 to the cost of diesel to help fund the succer mom's SUV and her daily three block trip to the store #@$%!. Once all of these gas stations that sell diesel find out that they can pull more gas customers in by decreasing the cost of gas and adding it back to diesel you will see the cost of diesel match the cost of regular gas.
