There is a Cheveron station down the street from me that has 3. 59 posted for diesel.

FYI, check out this site http://autos.msn.com

Enter the zip code yiou want to check and it will show the station prices.

Its usually updated every 24 hrs.

My favorite part of the fuel price increases is how those knuckleheads in Congress start threatening the oil companies!! Yet, for all the retheroric, they REFUSE to lower any of the fuel taxes!!!

Congress could help us if they CHOOSE to do so. However, they are more addicted to our money than we are to oil.

I still drive my truck however. I like nothing better than pulling up in my large fuel in-efficient truck next to some tree-hugger in their hybrid and watch them give me dirty looks. Some day, somebody is going to get serious about marketing/selling veggie-fuel for us and then we will finally see some competition.

Oh, and don't forget to thank your local tree-hugger for not letting anybody in the US build a refinery for over a decade.

The taxes on the fuel is not the problem, it is not that much and would not result in much of a price drop, where you need to get control is at the oil companies, they are raking in record profits each quarter, breaking last quarters profits each time.

Remember that the profit is after the company has paid all of its expenses for the quarter and that includes the cost of R&D, hence the word profit.

Now if Exxon can make 36 Billion in profit for the year last year after paying all of their costs and yes my friends that includes the cost of one retired CEO to the tune of $400,000,000 million dollars, well that tells me that they are way over charging for fuel and the price could be lowered a lot.

Would not 5 billion in profit be enough for Exxon a year, why do they need 36 billion?

The answer is they don't need 36 billion in profit, we are being raped by Big Oil, but hey don't get to down about it, this forum has plenty of Big Oil cheer leaders in another thread cheering on Big Oils daily price increases.

I also hear that you will soon be receiving in the mail a case of K&Y as a gift from Big Oil to help you ease the pain at each fill up.

So you see things are not as doom and gloom as it seems, Big Oil does care!

Don't let that fool you, Big Oil has no interest in building any refinery, it would mean that they have to lower their cost.

It is not just the tree huggers, you can bet your bottom dollar Big Oil is in the same bed with the tree huggers and Big Oil has not intention of getting out of bed with the tree huggers any time soon.

I think the last new refinery was built in the early 70's, so its been a good thirty years, so Big Oil is just as much to blame, with their record profits they could afford to build the refinery, they just don't want to.

$. 50/gallon is not a problem?? It is for me!

You can blame "big oil" all you want, but the fact is those scumbags in gov't are just as bad if not worse. At least Exxon is employing people and they only take your money if you choose to buy their product.

Its easy to point a finger at "big oil" because there isn't a face to associate with it. I know a number of members here own their own businesses I wonder how they would feel if I said we should regulate how much they can charge for their products/services.

And no, I don't work for "big oil". I just get sick of hearing liberals spout off about how its all "big oil's" fault.

I totally agree. People are sooo fast to blame anyone who makes a profit. If people really thought about all the money and time and risk it takes to just find and get the oil they would probably shut up. I don't like paying for it either, however your pointing the blame in the wrong direction. Everyone wants the govmt. to step in and "do something"! Give me one example of something the govmt. has done or taken control of that ended up being more efficient or cheaper! Keep the govmt. out of this and let CAPITALISM do it's thing.

Capitalism works! Do you actually believe that a Harley Davidson MC is worth upwards of $25,000. 00? No, but they can charge that much because that's what some consumers are willing to pay. If your not willing to pay for the fuel then stay home and leave the road open for those of us that actually have to drive, and were smart enough to budget for it.

If you can't afford to drive your truck if fuel is over $3. 00, then you can't afford the truck! Buy something cheaper that is more in your budget, whatever that may be.

$2. 99 Northern Illinois Johnsberg road and Ilinois Hwy 173 at the Citgo.

Now to go and fill the dual 150 gallon tanks on my semi and the 75 Gallon tank on the trailor for the reefer. Yea. Oo.

I could not agree more!!! I don't like paying $3/gallon either and if the price of fuel ever gets to the point where its causing me to drive my truck less, I WILL sell it.

The problem is, most Americans figure that if they can afford the payment, they can afford the item. I know a loan officer at a local credit union who said they once did a 10 year loan on a diesel truck!! That's INSANE!

The tree Huggers are a problem but it is also the government. I know a local man (I can't say his company but it is a major player)who is in the oil business and he has been trying to open a refinary here in Vegas for over three years now. He told me that every time he tries to advance his plans. The EPA steps in and says he needs something else stopping his progress. He also told me the government pays a dollar a gallon for pure biodiesel for using clean soy oil and they only pay . 50 cents for waste oil. I asked him then why is bio so expensive if they are getting a $1 a gallon back. He just smiled. What could I say but money makes the world go round

Well it started out this week at $3. 06 and tonight it was $3. 49!!I think I'm gonna start riddin a horse to work!Screw the oil co.

If you venture into Sunland, it's 2. 95 at the 76 station on Sunland Blvd. and Glenoaks Blvd. I've been going there for years. Don

The Chevron station on San Fernando Road and the CA-14, just barely into Santa Clarita, has had a consistent price of $2. 89 for the past few weeks (at least the last 4 tanks). Yesterday price was still $2. 89. The Chevron station in Simi Greg was talking about is one of the lowest diesel volume stores in Southern Ca. My dad lives around the corner. If you are stupid enough to pay their rates, then you are paying the station owners way to an early retirement.

Wholesale price of Diesel earlier this week was something like 241 cent per gallon, (On my soap box) no excuse for some of the stations to be charging what they are except they can get it, except pure greed.

Capitalism is a good thing until everyone wants socialism to start controlling the prices. I say drill more and give incentives to using USA oil in the US and not selling overseas, such as our Alaska North Slope oil that goes over to ASIA, they are willing to pay a higher price than we on the West coast. Increase the number of diesel pumps and prices will go down.

There is a definite difference in my pocketbook when prices get this high, I tend to not go on extra trips etc... . But it is funny that when the prices go up I tend to be forced for more overtime to cover for everyone at work taking vacation or sick time. :-(

I owe, I owe, so off to work I go..... always in my CTD; I love the loud clatter coming from under the hood.

I am now coming off my portential soap box.

I always get my fuel from that Chevron station off the 14, good clean fuel, and always lowest $$$$ anywhere in 30 miles.

12v

Mike, shoulda kept your 12 valve man! I yanked my 24 valve out for one, just so i can say "F-YOU" to OPEC and the Gov... i go straight to Costco for the 5g jugs of Golden Chef Soybean Oil. . i know of a little green 12v truck in town here that has been running it for almost a year now straight and still has no issues :p
