Don't know where to post this question, but somebody will move it I'm sure. Only bought my Ram last November, so still new to diesel. I have found a station here in Anchorage that sells both diesel #1 and #2 diesel. It has been around 15 degrees during the night, my "Casper" is inside, but sets out all day long. Which number of diesel should I buy ($2. 67 yesterday. ) Also, years ago my Father in law was a diesel man and never tired of preaching the joys of diesel. Why is diesel so much more than regular now, but way back in the 60's it was cheaper. Just curious, as I love this truck, but feel real sorry for trucker friends that must pay these prices.

2. 67 you lucky dog,Down here in Northern Nevada we are still at 3. 09 a gallon. The reason it is so high just look at the oil co profits last quarter. 9. 9 billon net. We have to have it,they can get it-just plain old greed man.

There's a place in South Reno that's at $2. 89 now.

Here is a link that has helped me find the better prices for our area.

Thanks for the info RankRam. I only go to Reno if I have to. Reno is starting to feel like where I left, the Bay area. But I do fill up when over there as the price is about 10cents a gallon cheaper on average then here in Carson. Out in Dayton it is still 3. 19 a gallon. Wish I had Oil futures.

Here in Canada diesel was less than gas prior to the hurricane Katrina. Now it is 20 % more than gas! I am sure it is something to do with the refining, but man I am getting tired of being hosed by the oil companies.

I think it's pretty sad that they have conditioned us to get excited to see diesel at $2. 64. It's been $3+ for a while now... but I don't want to get too excited... $2. 64 is still insane! I could barely afford fuel when it got to $1. 75... oh how I wish it was that low now.

I was told by an ex-oil man that prices will shoot back to over $3/gallon after the first of the year for both gas and diesel... the reason for the "break" in prices is that we released strategic reserves... as soon as the market uses that up, it'll go back up.

Gasoline is $2. 12 while diesel is still $2. 69... in my neck of the woods, it is because better than 50% of people heat with oil which is basically off-road diesel.

To answer your question, you should use an antigel additive for anything below approx 10°F, and ya may want to add 10-20% of #1 diesel (kerosene) if you know its going below -10 to -20 (which i`m sure happens in AK) Just make sure you can drive around a bit to mix it up good.

I may be wrong on those numbers, but I think I`m pretty close. .

good luck, and plug that thing in!! heh
