Diesel Smart car heading to the USA?

Been following the import story for the Smart car from Daimler Benz. There was an article this morning on Foxs that quoted Dieter's hints of a 2007 model year inport.

Anybody heard if the CDI version is going to be joining the US models?. With the ultra low sulfur diesel coming soon, this should help Mercedes to get it EPA certified.

Pretty good forum for the # of members there, few have the techno knowledge of TDR behind them though. Most are the eco types which I think is a pretty abrasive combination for a TDR "bomb" member to get along with

I hope they do, then I can pick up one of the engines for cheap when someone makes a Smaruki out of it.

I was in Greece a year 1/2 ago... those things are every where... the front seat area is very comfortable... even the gas models get exl mileage... .

I doubt we'll get the diesel version, but I'll take the gas version if they finally start sellling the Smart's in the US. I'll save the truck for towing, hauling, long trips and snow.
