Just got my truck, put 500 miles on it in two days. For the last 50 or so miles I've noticed the smell of diesel, in the cab, when the A/Cs running. Any ideas???
Check the cowl seal. They can come loose and let fumes from engine compartment pass between cowl and hood. From there it's a short path to your fresh air intake.
Took it to the dealer 4 times and they said they have tried everything to get the cowl seal to stay on. Idiots!
I just filled the seal with silicone caulk and stuck it on. Hasn't moved since. That helped keep the aroma down, but after an oil change it still smells strong for a few hundred miles.
i couldn't afford that option, so mine gives me the aroma frequently. fortunately, i read about it on tdr, before i took it back to the dealer and made a fool of myself. i thought i had an exhaust leak, but couldn't figure out why it got better after i drove it more miles. then i changed the oil and it started over again. once again $35 for tdr was money well spent... ... ..... 'course that doesn't take into account the BOMBing i've learned about. somehow i suspect the eventual talley will be around -3,965 dollars give or take a few thousand dollars... ... ... . lessee, upgraded tc, valve body, fueling box, injectors, boost module, gauges , exhaust... ... ..... does it ever end??
i plan to address the breather soon. on my harley, i simply ran the vent back under the frame and terminated in a filter that i believe k 'n n made. prob do the same for the hd ram.
