I had a similar problem maybe a month ago. Also, at around 30 or 35 mpg while driving on a flat surface, it would go in and out of lock up. That happened while on a road trip. I have not been able to recreate the issue at all since coming back.
 
Had that happen for quite a while. Changed tx fluid but didn't help. Decided that the old battery cable clalmps were not in the best of shape, Odered 4 military style battery terminal
connectors from amazon and just clamped the old cable connectors to the new terminals which gave me a better connection. No more trouble with the tx shiffting back and forth from 3rd to 4th,
 
It is like it is missing goes in and out of overdrive has anyone had this problem and do you know of a fix. Thanks


Plug scan tool into OBDII and set for real time data monitoring then drive 50-60 mph
on level ground with an absolute steady foot on the pedal (wedge foot against transmission hump), watch TPS (throttle position sensor) numbers.
If the numbers are jumping around creating the stumble and you are NOT MOVING YOUR PEDAL FOOT then you have a bad TPS.
 
Firefighter. Sounds to me like the in/out of OD is the "old electrical noise" issue. Because the wiring runs in the loom from the alternator it picks up electrical noise which can cause this in/out of OD. Most folks will take the easy (at least in my opinion) route and get a DTT noise filter. http://www.dttdiesel.com/product-p/kw5535.htm .

Suggestion: go to top of your TDR page, settings, and set up a signature with some info about your truck, so down the road should you have other situations folks have info and can better assist.
 
Yes, I'm having same issue, but unknown source. I've had the Crank Pos Sensor changed & later, its harness socket/plug to no avail. Can't find anyone with experience w/issue. The most related comment is one who reports the 5VDC supply to the CPS sags & causes the PP0336 "CPS Poor Performance" code.

We're (hoping) to depart for FL in a few weeks & cannot have this issue pulling RV. I'm planning on ordering a 'refurbished' ECM from: "http://www.fs1inc.com/chrysler-dodge-plymouth.html?enginesize=229&make=95&model=51&year=137" for $700, know as Flagship One out of East Rockaway, NY. These are (supposed to be) used working ECM's that are cleaned up, tested for errors & functionality, then flashed for customers specific vehicle.

Any comments re: "used ECM's"???
 
Bob4x4: I had my transmission repair shop friend do a ride-a-long one night last week, with his diagnostic scope plugged in to the OBD. Could not produce a "stumble". Removed scope & "stumble" returned. We're sure the CPS assy. is good via voltage chks, etc., but who knows if its alternator produced electrical noise or the Banks tuner?!? Some have said a sagging 5VDC supply to the CPS has caused "stumble" type problems. This testing via OBD seems to point to electrical noise IMHO.

I just received an electrical filter assy from Geno's Garage to be an additional ground to C1, Pin 14, brown/white, at the ECM. Installing that 2/13. If 'no joy', then my trusted diesel mechanic/technician suggested replacing the 3 wire CPS portion of the harness with new. He reports that visits by Cummins techs over the recent years also resulted in 'shrugged shoulders'!

None of my 'archival' searches here and elsewhere re: PP0336 code(s) have produced clear solutions. Mayhaps I'll be the one with the answer & provide a useful service to my friends on TDR who have assisted me over the years. That would be the best outcome. Travel safe my TDR friend.

Remove the banks box.If you have the model that t's into the crank sensor you should be happy.I had an 07 5.9 last month that the Banks downloader locked up the ecm,My tool will normally restore an ecm=not in that case,Sent that ecm back to Banks they returned it to me in about 3 weeks.Not sure how much faith the customer has with Banks now
