Apparently a lot of truckers don't believe they need anything in their fuel either, a friend owns a road side service company (medium and heavy duty trucks/tractor trailers) and he has received 13 calls this winter alone from guys on the side of the road with plugged up filters.
He makes a believer out of em one at a time :-laf

Our guys (ERS, class 8 trucks) have been running flat out since first part of Jan. Last weekend(long weekend) lost track of how many calls for freeze up alone. A truck we had to rent because of yet another dodge transmission failure covered 2500 miles over a 6 day period , working a 100 mile radius........The majority of truck drivers today are not even prepared to check their own oil.lol.
