Davidson County, Tennessee, now requires diesel truck inspections, if they are newer than 1975 and under 10,500 pounds.

I just had my 2004 Cummings 600 Dodge RAM Quad Cab inspected. It passed the test. I had replaced the OEM muffler with the Aero Turbine (which I think is about like a straight pipe, anyway). No problems.

I consistently get an average of 18. 7 MPG (from the overhead computer), but about 19. 3 when manually computed, on the road and and around town.

I'm satisfied

More info on the muffler please. . Are yo running a 6 speed or automatic. I just looked at those on line and I saw an avg of $200 for the muffler plus install. What were your mileage figures before your install. Is the noise level much louder? did you keep or loose the cat?

thanks! :D

Is the 10,500 lbs the weight of the truck or the gvw? I know in Ohio you can just license it for more and pay another $20 for your plates and you don't have to have the test. When I lived in Ohio I even licensed by 1/2 ton for 14,000 lbs so I didn't have to bother with emissions tests.

I had to have mine tested here in Ohio. They ran it on a dyno and checked the exhaust opacity (and ONLY the opacity). Limit was 20, I scored 0. Stupid Ohio.

I have a 6-speed transmission, and the muffler sounds a little louder than the OEM muffler, but it is a throaty, nice sound. I believe you would get the same results with a straight pipe. If I had it to do over again, I would go with the straight. That turbine stuff is just a bunch of hype, until they prove it to me. I'll eat my words if they do, and in fact I've got a little power lag with the Aero Turbine that was not noticed with the OEM muffler.

I kept the CAT, because it seems a legal issue to remove it. My gas mileage was around 17. 5 before installation of the Volant Cool Air box, and it jumped up after that. Then, I installed the Aero Turbine muffler. My MPG is a steady 18. 7 in town and 19. 3 on the road. The Volant probably had more to do with the increase.
