Palmdale Drags:Truckin' for Kids

Going to the Octoberfest here in Salt Lake City

many stories... but Tim was running what, 640hp and smoking up the road BIIIGGGG time. this was a really fun weekend! more to come...

Short story: The dyno was good... but I wasn't there. The drags were BORING... I was there.
Holeshot

I'll second that... ... .....

Dyno was good... ... ... ... ... Holehost wasn't there.

Drags were boring... ... ..... Holeshot was there:{

Hehehe... ... sorry Matt, couldn't resist

Doug,

Not sure how the drags ended up. The top running Dodge diesels dropped out for a variety of reasons: broken output shaft, another transmission on it's way out (good enough to limp home), and a red light start. They were bracket races anyway, so the most excitement was an El Camino (?) dialed in at 11 sec vs a fully restored model T quoting a 29 sec quarter mile... the suspense was awesome. After that, it was a lot of fun watching a cab over tractor turning 15sec times.

Tim dynoed at about 640 with torque off the scale, and Joe followed at 465 with his comp box on the fritz.

Tim made enough smoke to draw people from the neighboring shopping mall, wanting to see if anyone had been hurt in the fire/explosion they knew had to be there. :cool:

Will we see you in PA this coming weekend?

Wheaties,

Yes I will be at the MD-TDR Fall Brawl this weekend! I am testing out some new goodies this week in search of a few more ponies... . Guess we will see if it works or not. See ya there.

don't forget the cars on the road :-laf (if they could still see the road)

i can't believe that timmy's transmission was stock except for the addition of the tc :eek: :eek: that floors me.

Tom: Addition of a TC and VB.

His transmission is roasted... and nothing but pure luck has made it last this long.

George: At least I got my hands dirty working on a truck - I made him go . 2-seconds faster in the 1/4 mile and he gained 1mph on the fat end of the track. :D

Matt

ah, still amazing though... . stock shafts? that takes welding to a new extreme. hey, aren't only the top fuelers suppose to weld their clutch packs together?

man i got smoked by the guy with the 94 12v there (lenny was his name?-should be on the tdr soon)..... i need that 3k gsk:{ :{

Yeah, that's what happens when your truck defuels at such a low RPM... .

He made a few 16. 2 passes... which was pretty good for a low-BOMBed truck... .

Matt

Great everyone could make it this past weekend. Got some real good video footage, unfortunately the highway footage was recorded over at the track on Sunday, so all of those who missed it Saturday night will have to wait until we can get together again. I've had two revelations this past weekend. One: I need nitrous. Nitrous is good. Revelation Number Two: Twenty pounds of boost at the line sounds real cool, but trying to convine the Triple A operator on the other line that the ramp truck you are requesting is to remove a vehicle off of a site called New England Dragway kind of removes some of the initial excitement. I have to thank Mark F. for displaying his finest in political savvy in obtaining the said ramp truck for the obviously broken Dodge. All for the low price of $0. 00! Also would like to show some appreciation to all of you who offered me a trailer. Thanks. Oh yeah, big thanks also to Scott at Massdiesel for getting my output shaft installed the very next day! You guys are the best.

640 on drugs, w/ 8 men in the bed of the truck for traction.

Brian... ..... glad to hear your rolling again. That sucked watching it happen, but you had a great attitude about it.

Was one of those eight men Jeff? Sounds like a good time, I'll have to try to make the next one. Is anyone traveling to PA?
