Okay, so no doubts about it, here's a shot of the turbo in the truck.

Drive pressure never matched or went above boost pressure, for those interested.

Justin, having run the Jammer on 12V/24V and 3rd gen motors, they all seem to respond the same. If this turbo is any indicator, it is quicker than the Jammer. I know Keith is running this BB on his 2nd Gen truck.

Tomeygun, you are correct. I had pulled the twins to do some other testing, and kept the 3 piece, just flipped it back over. I run a 2nd gen downpipe that I have 2 different upper halfs for, to install just about any turbo. Still have the drive pressure and pyro hooked up, they are just on the bottom right now.

The 3rd gen kit comes with intercooler pipe/downpipe and all pieces to fit a stock manifold. I just didn't have to use them for my testing.

Bound to change with the TST. Thanks Fred for the first hand info on spool & drivability. On the other end (top end) of the spectrum I wonder where this turbo falls in with air flow compared to others.

Just a little info for you-

Mass of the rotating assembly, compressor & turbine wheel design, compressor and turbine housing size all affect the "spool up" ability of a turbo more than a ball bearing design.
Fooled me anyway. . I thought that was where they were getting such great low speed drivability since all the other factors you mention have been available for change in other brands.

Well, so far with the TST(twin program), right around 42psi boost, drive pressure still below that(it was around 40). Since I have DD2 injectors I have run the box up to 5/4, and it smokes real good when your in the throttle hard, response is fast and EGT's are up to 1400 on hard pulls through the gears.

The EGT's hit 1400 near 3200 in 5th and 6th, not before that. Just making sure I was clear on my findings.

I just talked to Swanson. The results are in and he installed it on Sunday. Very nice looking turbo, spools faster than the Jammer that is on my truck. EGT's are 1350* with Quad Race and DDII's flat footed on the top end. Spooling is quick, 1600 rpm's and up. Max boost was only 32 psi. TST will go on in the next couple of days and he will give you an update.

Greg

Fred, was your qzilla race on 140 with those EGT's?

Bit the bullet

Well I ordered my DD turbo yesterday. I'm really anxious to start testing. I'll be testing it with the CLDL and the Juice HOT/EZ stacked. Just hope there aren't any delays on delivery. Mustang muscle,... hear I come. :D

Duck, that was just the DD2's/VA/TST stack, quad was unplugged.

RonA, hard to compare, I haven't run a B1-04 with this power combo. You have one laying around? I can pop one in so fast now, it's nice for this testing stuff.

Sorry Fred, I do not.

I already loaned out the DD BB turbo to someone to see how it does on his truck. Interested to hear how it does on a 12 valve.

Ron

I am also very interested to hear how is does on a 12v. Ron could you update this thread or PM me the info when it is available. Thanks.

I'm also looking at ordering this and installing a new ATS manifold at the same time. Any more reports on it would be great... TIA, Scott

That's definitely the right time to do the manifold upgrade. Just be sure to check the manifold ports against the gaskets. You'll find they are considerably smaller. Yuk!! Not saying it won't work but it would work better if you gasket match it. Just an FYI to you.

The EGT increase you posted over the 40 is not good at all. I hope it was already failing at that point and turns out to be a great charger. Now we will see how good the warranty/service is on the replacement.
