I hope the preferred customer savings are good. I may try the oil as well, right now I use Conklin Convoy 15w40, It's pretty good I change 8-10,000 miles, oil filters every 3-4,000.

Thanks, Steve

To BGilbert:

Thanks for posting the quantities.

I have a Spicer Rear end, with Positrack.

the dealer I called about it, said to use 90 wt gear oil in it.

I wonder what is really meant by 75-140 wt oil!

Anyway, I guess that's what I'll use (90 wt).

BTW, I drained the trans, and am replacing the oil with Castrol full synthetic, 5-30.

I went to the hardware store and bought some plastic tubing, and rigged it up so I can pour the trans oil into the homemade funnel, (made from a 1qt oil bottle, and a gear lube spout), out at the hood. The other end goes into the top bolt hole on the PTO cover. I thought this would be easier than removing the stick. Takes about an hr for fluids to slowly drain into trans.

BTW, I have a getrag 5 speed. How much oil does this thing hold??

I have already put 5 qts in, and it still does not run out the filler hole!!

What's going on? I thought it was supposed to hold 3. 5 qts, and I'd fill it to 4. 5 qts. Now I'm really wondering!

AW!!!! SHucks guys!

I was using ONLY the DRIVERS side! I had some bolt out that is about opposite the fill plug! (I had the WRONG bolt as filler plug)

My only question now is is it OK to be 1-1/2 quarts overfilled!!!

I drained out about 3-1/4 qts.

BUT I put back 5 QTS!!

Maybe I'd better drain 16 oz!

Nate

Naw Nate, you're fine with 5 qts. , at least i hope you are cause that's what I got in mine ;) Lol-seriously tho, alot of people here are running 5 quarts, that should do your transmission some good :)
