I am looking to buy a 94-98 Diesel. Is there any visual way to tell the gear ratio, ie tag under hood or something? Also, were 2500 series dually's common? Thanks in advance, Bob

Bob, it is usually indicated in the glove box label I think. YOu could post this over on the 2002 and older forum (2nd Gen). This is for 2003-up trucks :)

Assuming everything is intact, there is an aluminum label attached between two bolts on the diff cover. It has a part number and the ratio on it.

Go to your local dealer and ask them to run a "function" on your truck. It will give you every detail on the truck when it was new, however it will not list any aftermarket mods (of course).
