I keep hearing about 2004. 5 Now tell me the difference If you please.
A 50-state-legal completely revised engine. This was the intro of the Cummins "600" (now 610).

Rest of the truck is the same. Same thing will likely happen in January of 2007 when the next emissions standards kick in.

2004 3. 5" turbo back except for the tail pipe being 4" no catalytic convertor

2004. 5 Has 4" turbo back and a Catalytic convertor

Different heads/valves/injectors, bigger turbo, bigger exhaust (4" turbo-back w/ cat. vs 3. 5"), and 45ftlb more torque.

04. 5 faster at emptying the fuel tank. :-laf

Not mine. I owned a 04 that was a total POS. I now own a 04. 5. 3500! Better economy, better ride, and... drum roll please... . more power than YOUR 03 and a all around better truck than my old 04. :-laf :-laf . Also higher book value. :D

Correct me if Im wrong but didnt they also change the piston bowl design in the "600" series?

probably... the shape of the recess in the piston effects how the combustion is controled. with the 600 engines having the more steep angle of injector nozzle orifi the bowel is probably a little different.

Even Helen Keller could see if your truck is stock and mine's not that you have less power. Sorry if I hit a nerve... ... the Midol and pads are in the mail.
