what is the differences between the 180 pump and 215 pump i have read that they have different cams in them or something. also is ther any difference int he engines froma 180 and 215 truck.

the reason i sak this is my friend has a 98 3500 with a 5 speed he has 370 injectors and #10 plate same as my truck we both have the same gauges and both have the same timing but his truck will beat mine and his truck has lower egt's than my truck and he has the stock turbo and manifold where i have an ATS mnaifold and HTT 62/12 turbo is there that much of a difference the fule pumps to give his truck more speed and lower egt's

also if the only difference in the pumps are the cams in the pump can i have the cam changed in my pump or is it cheaper to just get a 215 pump and swap it on my truck

could someone tell me the difference is it just the cam or is there more parts that are different between the 180 and 215 pump

would it be cheaper to change the cam and whatever other parts woud be needed to change my pump to a 215 or would i be better to look for a used 215pump and if i should buy a 215 pump what would be a good price for one

thanks

Ken

Ken,

I don't know particulars, but most of the parts are different. Any Bosch part is expensive. The seal kit alone for the P7100 is like $700-$800. If you want the 215 pump, they can be bought for @ $800-$1200 depending on condition and reputation of the builder.

There are fellows out there who have made big HP with the 160 and 175 pumps.

Im going for more drivablity and big towing power that can be sustained mor so than just big power to pull down a track or have a big number on the dyno will a 215 pump give the driveablity more so than the 180 pump i have now

thanks

Ken

you six shooter will always run slower than his 5 with the same power. i would not spend the money for another pump. you can run more fuel than you can tow with through a 180.

From what I've heard, Cams are the same, the stuff in the AFC is different though. The motors are the same too.

Maybe the reason he's beating you is because you have one more gear to row through?

These parts are different: afc spring, 215 has a . 040” thick washer on the afc diaphragm cup, camshaft, plungers and barrels, governor springs.
