I am very aware that they DO NOT make a Compression brake (Jake Brake) for the 2nd gen Cummins. Question is, Is there that much difference as far as the top end of the motor that using a Loadleash Engine Brake meant for a 2003 and making it fit on a 2001 block? I haven't played around a 3rd gen motor first hand so there could be major differences that I am not familiar to. I know they make plenty of exhaust brakes and all but nothing beats a Jake Brake IMO.

The 3rd gen is a common rail head. But it doesnt matter because Pacbrake doesnt offer a Loadleash until 2006 models.

Even the load leash isn't a true Jake brake. It is just a bit of help over the exhaust brake that comes standard. Most of the people on this forum can't justify the cost of a real Jake, including me, and I pull trailers............a lot.

Old thread...but the most recent on a Load Leash.

It appears that all the Load Leashes have been discontinued except for the 03-early 06 (3 plug injector harness). Seems like quite the opposite of the early load leash that was 6.7 only.

If I had to guess it would be that they didn't sell enough to justify a continued manufacturing process. It was a good idea, but way too much money, IMHO.
