Difference between 555 & 600 turbo?

Does anyone know what the difference in size between the two turbos is?What is the exact size of the new one,some guys have said it is a hy10 62mm and the old one is a hy9. But have not heard anyone say they were certain.

As per page 48 of the latest editon of the TDR

... . on all versions of this engine (3rd gen) is a HY35 with a 9cm squared exhaust housing. It now has a 3. 5 inch exhaust outlest as to the older 3" outlet... ...



The 04. 5-05 the turbo has a larger compressor wheel and housing for increased flow... ... page 49



03-04 standerd engine 22-24psi boost

2005 and previous HO engines, 25-26 psi.

Hey Jwilliams, any idea on the size of the compressor?

62mm as previously stated.

The compressor housing is about a 12cm if I had to compare it to something (like the old hx35 comp hsg. ).

The turbine housing and wheel are the same as 03 and 04 units.

Looks to be a 9cm turbine housing from 03-05.

jwilliams,I see in your signature that you have a b1-04 ,how do they compare in size to the stocker?Is it the full b1-04 that they just come out with last month or is it a b1-2-04?

The turbo I have is the one that came out in about December time frame maybe a little earlier, but it had just come out.



Comparison, well the compressor wheel looks about the same or a hair bigger.

The turbine wheel and housing are bigger on the big (alot bigger).



Shaft is alot beefier than the stocker.
